Beck's Journey
"Gonna be one of those days...."
Beck is getting Bianca ready to spend the day at her friend Wesley's house when their phone beeps. Wesley's mom is calling--an amazing freelance opportunity just came up for that day, and could Beck possibly take the kids instead? It's not like Beck loves buying groceries for other people, but they had been looking forward to a day of solo driving. Still, they feel like they can't say no and resign themselves to a TWO four-year-old day instead of a four-year-old-free day.
Wesley's mom drops him off, gushing thanks. Beck manages to talk Bianca into a weather-appropriate princess dress and makes both kids breakfast. They sink into a chair with their phone, thinking of the long day ahead, and wonder whether there's anything going on at the library.
Wow! CuriOdyssey is a bit of a long drive away, but Beck was going to spend the day driving anyway, and won't be sad about strapping both kids in and turning on a Raffi playlist. The CuriOdyssey pass gets Bianca in for free. Wesley's mom is still so tickled that she offers to cover Beck's ticket as well as Wesley's, and their gas. 😍👍❤️ They have a fantastic time at CuriOdyssey.
Beck used the library's website twice and enjoyed two great family activities--without setting foot in a library building.
Both times, they expected to visit their local branch, but pairing in-branch activities with remotely available ones in the site navigation meant Beck was able to find something fun to do, even though the thing they wanted from the physical library was not available at the time they looked.
