The Department of Radiography is an academic department in the School of Clinical Care Sciences within the Faculty of Health Sciences. We are located on the Ocean Sciences Campus in Gomery Road, Summerstrand.
Our departmental mission is to apply and extend knowledge by means of teaching and research in accordance with internationally recognized standards in order to:
educate and train students for careers in radiography to meet the needs of South Africa and in particular the region;
keep abreast with the latest developments in technology and remain in the forefront of curriculum development in radiography;
to be active in promotion of primary health care.

The Department of Radiography is situated on Ocean Sciences Campus of the Nelson Mandela University.
The qualification shall extend over at least four years of full-time theoretical and practical study.
It is compulsory for Radiography students to acquire First Aid Level 1 training at the start of the first year of study (as required by Bachelor of Radiography in Diagnostics programme and approved by the HPCSA).
All Radiography students are required, before the commencement of their clinical training, to have immunisation against the Hepatitis B virus.
Upon completion students qualify as diagnostic radiographers and are required by law to undertake one-year Community service.
