DIPLOMA IN SPORT MANAGEMENT
The qualification shall extend over at least three years of full-time study.
Competitive sport participation is compulsory for this qualification. You will also be required to work practical hours in a sport related environment. Work Integrated Learning is a module completed in the second semester of your final year where you work full time at a sport related organisation for a period of about 6 months. You will qualify as a Sport Manager. You may find employment at Professional Sport Clubs, Sport Federations University and School Sport Departments, Government and Municipal sport entities, Facility management companies, Event Management organisations and in the Health and Fitness sector.
BACHELOR OF HUMAN MOVEMENT SCIENCE:
The Human Movement Science degree is a 3 year qualification.
The field of study for HMS encompasses the study of movement, exercise and sport from a biological, psychological, social and managerial perspective. The various modules will also require students to complete practical hours at schools, fitness establishments as well as in various communities in the Eastern Cape and surrounding areas.
The Human Movement Science degree uses a holistic approach to promote, assess and improve physical fitness and wellness. This degree is a stepping stone for students who wish to further upskill themselves in the various streams which exist in the health and fitness industry which include coaching, sports management and recreation as well as general and specific fitness and conditioning. Postgraduate studies include an honours degree and Master’s Degree in the field of Human Movement Science.
BACHELOR OF HEALTH SCIENCES IN BIOKINETICS:
This qualification is 4 year professional degree, where you are registered with the Health Professions council under the Allied Practitioner domain. It is compulsory for students to register with the HPCSA from the beginning of the first year of study. Students are responsible for payment of the HPCSA registration fee facilitated through the Department of Human Movement Science.
