The Department of Medical Laboratory Science is situated on the North Campus of the Nelson Mandela University.
The qualification shall be offered over a period of four years of full-time study.
Medical Laboratory Scientists are health professionals, trained in sample analysis of DNA, tissue, blood, sputum, urine other bodily fluids. This is performed across the various disciplines for example Haematology, Clinical Chemistry, Medical Microbiology, Cytology, Histology, and Cytogenetics.
Successful completion of this qualification will enable the graduate to register with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Medical Laboratory Scientist.
Post Graduate opportunities are available to further your studies and include a Masters or Doctoral qualification in Medical Laboratory Science.
