Software Licenses

Since the SCOPE program is educational in nature, and the program is required for graduation, your software use falls within the educational license scope. Students cannot share the software with their corporate sponsors or leave a copy of it with the company or reverse engineer it. If they do, the students will be in violation of our acceptable use policy and the usual sanctions would apply.

For example, SCOPE teams can use Olin’s SolidWorks license as long as:

1. The students do not providing the actual use of the software to the company for commercial purposes;
2. They have used the software as part of their educational experience to create reports and in some cases, paper documentation of models created in SolidWorks, for the reports (In those cases the paper models are marked with the education watermark).
