Learning Objectives
SCOPE is a big course and you do a lot in it. However, the learning objectives can be grouped into 3 relatively straightforward categories - Individual, Team, and Project. See below for a master graphic and further description.
First and foremost, SCOPE is a course and you are a student. The course is designed to provide you opportunities to focus on your own learning and your development as a team member in the context of an industry-sponsored project. In particular, we (the teaching team) have designed this experience to support you as you…..
Individual: Reflect on and further develop a professional identity
- Identify and act on individual learning goals
- Reflect on your professional development experiences before and during SCOPE
- Evaluate your current skills and knowledge and acquire the skills and knowledge needed to be successful on this project
Team: Create and maintain team health
Design and execute team roles, responsibilities, and an overall approach that results in an effective and healthy team dynamic.
Project: Successfully execute a client-based project
- Decompose the project (e.g., what you need to use or learn for this project?),
- Manage the project (e.g., plan short-term and long-term tasks, make needed adjustments to plans)
- Implement necessary analysis, modeling, prototyping, and human-centered design methods, as appropriate,
- Communicate your progress and results internally and externally
