Consequently, the Department shall adopt a Code of Ethics as a guideline for the performance of its duties.
All sworn and civilian employees shall receive instruction on the Department "Code of Ethics" at minimum biennially.
All Deputies shall represent the Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office with the utmost professionalism at all times, whether on duty or off duty, as well as on any social media platforms.
All Deputies shall follow everything stated in this SOP, as well as any other documents that may be marked important by Command Staff.
All Deputies are expected to follow the proper Use of Force Guidelines and to respect the rights of all civilians, no matter the encounter. This is a crucial point in staying within a good vision of the public.
If a Deputy is to break any laws on duty, they are subject to an investigation. They are not exempt from the law and appropriate actions will be taken towards them, thus possibly affecting their ranking in the Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office, as well as their civilian record.
Any Deputy that is found breaking these regulations set in place by leadership is to understand that at any time, their position may be removed from them and they will be relieved of duty depending on the severity of the topic. Deputies are entitled to follow this entire SOP, and be able to reference certain parts if asked by fellow Deputies or during civilian interactions.
All Deputies are required to issue a Supervisor upon request by a civilian or fellow Law Enforcement Officer at any time requested, not just during an arrest or detainment.
All employees of the Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office are expected to respect their fellow partners and any individual at all times, and this does not only apply for this department but for all other departments such as Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Oklahoma City Police Department, Game Warden, as well as the Fire Department and others to come in the future of the State. If anyone employed by this department is caught disrespecting anyone listed above, they will be dealt with accordingly and face disciplinary or administrative actions taken against them.
