Criminal Investigation Unit is a team of detectives responsible for investigating incidents involving crimes against persons, crimes against property, and all other crimes against the public. CIU personnel are trained in numerous investigative techniques to include crime scene analysis and reconstruction, crime scene processing, bloodstain pattern analysis, and the collection of key evidence to include DNA, gunshot residue, fingerprints, footwear impressions, etc. CIU detectives primarily investigate felony-level crime and provide criminal and forensic investigative support to the Patrol Division.
