PERSON-ENVIRONMENT-OCCUPATION
The PEO model emphasizes the greatest occupational performance based on how the person, their environment, and the targeted occupation fit together.
PERSON:
role, self-concept, cultural background, personality, health, cognition, physical performance, and sensory capabilities.
ENVIRONMENT:
physical, cultural, institutional, social, and socio-economic environment.
OCCUPATION:
groups of tasks that a person engages in and meets his/her self-maintenance, expression, and fulfillment.
These three domains are dependent and affected by each other. Within this model, you are seeking overlap between the three domains. The more overlap the better the occupational performance. PEO will constantly change throughout one's life so it is important to continually analyze this model as your patient changes throughout the rehab process.
