NDT FOR is used to analyze and treat posture and movement impairments. NDT FOR is based on biomechanics and kinesiology. This FOR is utilized to identify difficulties and plan for intervention. NDT considers planes of movement, alignment, range of motion, base of support, muscle strength, postural control, weight shifts, and mobility. This FOR utilizes movement analysis to identify missing or atypical parts of movement. The goal of NDT is to optimize a person's life roles.
EVALUATION: NDT looks at the client in a client-centered manner. This FOR emphasizes the continual evaluation of the patient as part of the treatment. This will help to evaluate changes and treatment strategies.
INTERVENTION: therapeutic handling is the primary technique of NDT. You use your hands to cue and guide the client through new movement patterns. You must grade your manual forces on the client's body to enforce more independence.
Therapeutic handling can be utilized during occupational tasks. These tasks can include components of cognition and perception.
