THE MODEL OF HUMAN OCCUPATION:
MOHO is a model that can describe how people choose and adapt the occupations they engage in. MOHO considers information from the environemnt as well as feedback from the action that was performed through the internal system. The internal system is comprised of 3 different subsystems including: Volition, Habituation, and Performance.
Subsystem 1: Volition is the cause of the action. Most often we refer to volition as one's motivation to engage an occupation, task or activity.
Subsystem 2: Habituation is how we maintain out daily routine and pattern of action, as well as the order of performing actions. Habituation is comprised of our roles and habits.
Subsytem 3: Performance is one we have the actions we perform.
After we perform a task, the system will adjust according to the feedback our internal system recieves.
This model can be applied in understanding clients’ formation of action during assessment, and modifying client’s action through the subsystems and input during intervention.
