Did you know? The KSU Orientation Week is one of the only remaining fully student-run orientation weeks in the country! The coordinators are working hard to it make smooth and fun! Meet your coordinators and check out the O-Week FAQs below!
Hi everyone! My name is Jane (she/her), and I am so beyond excited to help welcome you all to King’s. I’m starting second year this fall with a combined honours in English and Contemporary Studies. A fun fact about me is that during FYP, almost all of my essays were written entirely at the Oxford Taproom (you should definitely check it out).
King’s (and o-week) has brought me some of my very best friends - I hope this week helps you settle in and I know you will find your community here as well. Take care of yourself and be brave anytime you can. If you see me around campus, please chat or ask questions! I can’t wait to meet you.
Hi! My name is Morag (she/her) and I'm so pumped to welcome you all to King's! I'm currently working towards a combined honours degree in Contemporary Studies and Microbiology & Immunology, so feel free to ask me all about interdisciplinary degrees and STEM at King's (or anything else)!
I hope to help you find a place that feels like home, and also to discover ways of venturing out of your comfort zone–whether it's surfing with the Dal Outdoor's Society or helping to make a giant pot of soup with the King's Food Security Initiative, there are so many exciting things to try!
Kwe’/Hello! My name is Catherine (she/her). I’m going into my fifth year at King’s in a BSc of Economics and Statistics. I’ve loved my time so far as a student at King's, especially while playing for the women’s rugby team and through getting involved with the King’s Student Union (KSU).
I hope to welcome you to campus and support you in exploring your interests at King’s!
Q: When is Orientation Week?
Orientation Week officially 2025 starts on Sunday August 31st (move in day!) and events will be scheduled throughout the week up until Saturday, September 6th.
Q: Do I sign up for King’s or Dalhousie Orientation Week?
The King’s Students’ Union and the Dalhousie Student Union run completely separate programming throughout the week. If you are a King’s student or will be involved with the King’s community, you should sign up for the King’s Students’ Union Orientation Week (that’s us!).
Q: Will I have to choose between class and O-week events?
O-Week is largely organized around the FYP schedule, but for those not in FYP, some events may take place during a class. Never fear! We will have enough events planned that everyone should have plenty to participate in.
Q: how do I register for Orientation Week?
See Registration
Q: What kind of activities and events will there be?
This year we have plenty of fun surprises cooking, (beach day anyone?) but we look forward to incorporating YOUR ideas through the 'Fill the Boot!' form!
And as part of O-Week you also get an Orientation Week Pack which is full of all sorts of things to help you get started at King's!
