Become a Blue Devil!
There’s many different stories of supernatural beings in the maritimes like tiny forest creatures, ghosts and sea monsters. Here at King’s, make sure you look out for the Blue Devils! Fear not, they are no spooky ghouls -- the Blue Devils is the name of our sports teams!
The University is a member of both the Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association and the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association. Varsity teams compete in soccer, rugby, badminton, basketball and volleyball (women’s only for volleyball).
A schedule of these teams' games are often posted on the Athletics Website or Instagram during the team year so that you can cheer them on like it's Tintamarre! They’ll have you saying ‘These teams are some good!
Even if you’re not part of one of the varsity teams but want to give ‘er, you’ll have access to the UKC Athletics Facility which is home to a gymnasium, cardio room, weight room and dance studio. Your athletic fees also give you access to Dalhousie’s facilities, programs and intramurals.
The King’s Athletics Department is committed to diversity and inclusion. We strive to be a safe place for all students to participate in a non-threatening atmosphere. A place where you can say chui what I am.
The department consists of Trish Miles (Interim Athletics Director), James Wise (Athletics Administrator), and Jack Ronahan (Varsity Assistant). You can find the athletics department on Instagram and Facebook @ukcbluedevils and for all information regarding the facility, programs and varsity sports on the Athletics section of the website: www.ukings.ca/athletics.
Note to the wise: Some teams start pre-season practices and tryouts before or during O-Week. If you’re interested in playing with one of the teams, fill out the recruitment form on the UKC website so coaches or athletic department staff can get in touch. Most teams also have individual social media accounts where they might post tryout information -- you can find most of them tagged on the @ukcbluedevils Instagram account.
