About Your Union
The King's Student Union and Student Collectives
The King's Student Union and Student Collectives
The King's Students Union is exactly that: a Union. All students are members and pay dues to have a fully student-run organization that provides services and support to all of us (like the Health Plan).
The Union's Council of Students is made up of Executives and Councillors, elected by students to serve them in particular ways. Council makes the majority of decisions for the Union, and running for a councillor position is a great way to get involved in the Union! The Union operates The Wardroom and The Galley (our student-run bar and cafe), hires students for particular roles or projects, has plenty of committees, and supports student societies, so there's a way to get involved for everyone.
Perhaps most importantly, the Union makes it its business to solve problems. Whether that means knowing where to find the Student Accounts Office or giving away free food, working on years-long campaigns to improve student representation in university decision-making spaces or connecting students to community resources, the Union works to address what King's students need. That can mean all of these examples or many others; it all depends on the students who get involved and work together.
