D&C RESOURCES
Below are resources for 2025.
Some are for the classroom whilst others are for the student's Study Journals.
Download and print those you feel drawn to.
The documents below are an A4 size. Print full sized if using A4 exercise books. Otherwise, print 2 to a page if using the A5 sized Student Study Journals.
Note, A4 exercise books are on sale from January - early February.
Here's a 3min video on how I use the resources below.
Print one for each student. Trim each "box" and have students glue one at the top of an A4 Study Journal page. This will leave lots of room for students to write about the prophet Joseph Smith underneath. You may like to do this in the middle or back of the journals. You could give them out all at once or as needed during the year.
Encourage your students to think of something to write regularly. Then, for the last week of Seminary, they will have a record to help them share their testimony of Joseph Smith as a prophet of God.
Print one for each student. Trim each page on the right and bottom so they fit an A4 page Study Journal neatly.
Refer to it during the year during journal writing time. Watch out each week for questions from the early saints, that led to revelations from the Lord, which became sections in the D&C.
Print one for each student. Trim each page on the right and bottom so they fit an A4 page Study Journal.
Refer to it each day when starting journal writing time.
I like to glue this in the very front of the student's Study Journals. Trim each page on the right and bottom so they fit an A4 page Study Journal neatly.
Glue this on the back cover of study journals. In your weekly routine, find a day & time to refer to it. This keeps it in the student's minds. Trim on the right and bottom edges so it fits an A4 page Study Journal neatly.
Each Monday I give the students the challenge of writing down the previous week's DM we practiced. Incentives are offered😄I glue this in the back of their study journals for them to write the Key Statement and Rhyme in. They also have the option of reciting the whole passage to a partner if they want to.
A super handy resource. Print on A4 card, double sided, one for each student. Very useful for learning Key Statements and using with games and activities.
Print a couple for use when playing as a class.
You may need to darken some of the colours. My printer prints darker that what it looks like on the screen.
Print these DM posters for your classroom. There are 2 pages for each DM.
Reference, Key Statement, & Rhyme.
The actual verses.
Use these cards for games & activities such as Swat the Fly, or as flash cards to study with.
Instructions on how to make them are on the last page.
See our page titled "Footsteps of Faith" for more details of this resource.
GENERAL RESOURCES
Have everyone's name on separate pieces of card. Each class, shuffle them and place them face-down so no one can see the names. After you ask the class a question, wait a moment. If no one volunteers an answer, turn over the top card. The person whose name comes up is the one to answer. You can then invite anyone else to share (not drawing a card unless it's a "big" question with many answers).
If someone volunteers an answer, you might look through the deck and remove their name (this encourages them to answer a question they feel safer about rather than taking their chances). Depending on class size, & the number of questions, you may need to flip the cards once everyone has had a turn, and start again.
It can be helpful for students to share with a partner before sharing with the class. Once the partnership has shared it, you can then invite them to share with the class - either their own thought or their partners. More details are on the attachment below.
Before class, write all of you student's names on a board. After you ask a question, wait for someone, whose name is on the board, to answer. After they have shared, wipe their name off the board. Continue in this manner until all names have been removed. Note, if someone wants to share an answer, but their name has been wiped off, they can still share after someone on the board has shared (so two or more people share!)
The idea is to encourage studens to answer a question they feel they could, rather than being stuck at the end with a hard question. If the question you ask is a "big" one, you can say that at least two people must answer before you move on.
If you don't have many students in your class, write their name on the board twice, but remove one at a time.
This technique can be also useful if you have one student who dominates answering questions as it encourages everyone to have a turn at answering first.
At the very end of the lesson manual, in the Appendix, is a section titled "Ideas for Variety. It has ideas for helping students participate in classroom activities. Below is a pdf of just this section so that it's nice and handy for you to access.
It is wise to keep a paper roll for your own reference as well as marking Attendance on WISE.
Below are pdf files to print. There are also Google Docs you can download and adapt - though you may find the margins get jumbled as they were originally Word documents.

Do your students have trouble thinking of a hymn to sing for opening exercises?
If so, you might like to print this resource - one for each student. Print it double-sided on stiff card so it endures for the year.
A printable version of the Core Document for Doctrinal Mastery lessons. It is found in the student's Study Journals. Students can also access it online.
You won't need this if printed if students use devices in your class or you have the A5 sized Study Journals.
The version below now has all DM passages listed at the end of it.
