This is another way to teach phenotype, genotype, and Punnet squares. I found that my students who were struggling to grasps concepts understood them after using this resource.

Purpose: I created this activity so students could get up and move while exercising their newfound genetic knowledge. It's also a good way to get students out of their normal groups.
Prep: Cut each photo out individually and laminate.
Directions: Give one card to each student. The have to find their whānau and then answer the questions on slide 8.

What are lethal alleles?
There are five lethal alleles outlined in this document. Separate students into five groups and give each group a different lethal allele. They will read through it and answer the activity questions as a group. Then, each group will share with the class their answers to the questions.
Print out five of these--one for each group. Students will be able to answer the questions after reading the lethal allele information they were given.
Review of previous knowledge and introduction of linked genes.
Students have to explain what linked genes are and draw them.
