Place a number line from -10 to +10 on the floor. Call out equations and have the students walk through it.
Positive number = pn
Negative number = nn
Refer to the photo for walking directions.
If the equation is pn + pn, then students can walk forward on the positive side of the number line.
If the equation is pn - pn, students walk forward on the positive line, then turns around and walks forward towards the negative line.
If the equation is pn - nn, students walk forward towards the positive side and then turn around and walk backwards on the positive line.
If the equation is pn + nn, then students walk forward towards the positive numbers and then move backwards towards the negative numbers.
