Many people are not aware that there are a number of resources available on the topic of military families and children. The documents below provide resources that are not only valuable to educators for use in the school setting, but also for providing assistance to families.
It is often difficult to know what is needed and how to help. The following two sections, Resources for Educators and Resources for Military Parents, are meant to provide support. You will find documents that may be labeled for one group or the other, but they can be used by either group.
Additionally, throughout this course, various terms will be used interchangeably. We have attempted to address this in a resource document labeled Military and Schools Glossary. If you see or hear a term used that we missed, please let us know.
The following resources provide valuable information on military-connected students and families:
Nellis & Creech Air Force Bases, and Nevada Test and Training Range School Liaison Page
Primer for Civilian Nonprofit Organization: Providing Support for Our Military Families
Military Child Education Coalition Fall Transitions Newsletter.pdf
Resources for Military Parents and Families
These resources can be given by educators to parents and families.
