PURPLE STAR SCHOOLS

The Purple Star School Award recognizes schools that show a major commitment to students and families connected to our nation’s military. A school is honored with the Purple Star Award if it completes all of the required activities and at least one optional activity. Purple Star schools must conduct the required and optional activities on an annual basis. 

Nevada's Purple Star Schools receive a special Purple Star recognition to display in their buildings, are recognized on the Nevada Department of Education web page and social media platforms, and are highlighted by the various military installations across the state.

The schools listed below have demonstrated their commitment to supporting Nevada's military families and have received the Purple Star School Award:

• Coronado High School - Clark County School District

• Ernest Becker Middle School - Clark County School District

• Mountain View Lutheran School - Private School

• Robert Gibson Leadership Academy - Clark County School District

• Triggs Elementary School - Clark County School District

• Watson Elementary School - Clark County School District

• Mineral County High School - Mineral County School District

• Hawthorne Elementary School- Mineral County School District

• Hawthorne Junior High School- Mineral County School District

• Schurz Elementary School- Mineral County School District

• Churchill High School - Churchill County School District

• Churchill Middle School - Churchill County School District

• E.C. Best Elementary School - Churchill County School District

• Numa Elementary School - Churchill County School District

• Lahontan Elementary School  - Churchill County School District

• Palo Verde High School - Clark County School District

• Rundle Elementary School - Clark County School District

• Doral Academy Northern Nevada - State Public Charter School Authority

• Mojave High School - Clark County School District

• Coral Academy of Science – Centennial Hills

• Lamb of God Lutheran School- Private School

• Desert Oasis High School - Clark County School District

Mineral County and Churchill County School Districts also earned the Purple Star School District Award in 2022. A Purple Star School District is a school district that has had every district school named as a Purple Star School. District level staff have also taken the required course and they have built a strong relationship with the military installations in their county.
