I am emailing you all to give notice of the forthcoming works on Lady Bay Bridge which we maintain on behalf of Notts County Council.
The bridge was last painted in 2010 and is overdue repainting works to protect and maintain the steelwork elements.
In order to repaint the bridge scaffolding is required. Erection for which will commence on Monday 16th June from the south bank.
The works will be undertaken in Phases to allow one navigable span to be free of all scaffolding for the duration of the works:
Phase 1 – South span scaffolded erected and span repainted. River traffic diverted through centre span. Once painted scaffold to be fully dismantled
Phase 2 – North and centre span scaffold erected and these spans repainted. River traffic diverted through the south span.
I have attached a drawing of the scaffold and the planned phasings. Buoys will be installed on the river to divert river traffic as well as lighting and signs on the scaffold.
The works are programmed to be complete by mid October
The scaffold will only affect the ability for tall boats to pass through but the span closure is in place to ensure the safety of all river craft, especially during scaffold erection so please can you distribute this e mail to warn club members of the hazards and restrictions.
If you’ve any further questions on this then please drop me an e mail and I will respond promptly.
Ian.
