Sun 28th The Trent at NKC remains Low (1.76m) Weather cold, calm & overcast.
Sat 27th The Trent at NKC has returned to Low (1.79m) The weather is forecast to be cold, calm & overcast for most of the day with a chance of some drizzle late afternoon.
Fri 26th The Trent has continued to fall and is Moderate. It is expected to be back to Low this evening. The weather is forecast to be cold, calm & sunny. It is expected to reach freezing overnight.
Thu 25th The Trent is back to Moderate and still falling slowly. The weather is due to be cold and calm.
Wed 24th The Trent at NKC is falling more slowly. It is just Slightly High (2.54m) but should fall to Moderate during the day. The Flood Alerts between Burton & Shardlow and around the lower part of the Soar are still in place. The weather forecast is for quite cold with some sunny periods and a moderate NE breeze.
Tue 23rd The Trent is now falling more quickly but is still High (3.01m) Flood Alerts remain around the Trent from Burton to Shardlow and on the Soar from Cossington to the Trent. The weather forecast is for cold, overcast weather with little wind and the possibility of both showers and sunny periods.
Mon 22nd The Trent at NKC is falling steadily and is down to High (3.22m) There are still Flood Alerts around the Trent from the Litchfield area to NKC and beyond. The Flood Alerts around the Soar are now limited to the section from Cossington to the Trent. The weather is forecast to be mild, calm and overcast throughout the day.
Sun 21st The Trent at NKC remains in Severe Flood Conditions (3.4m) although it is falling slowly. As all the Flood Alerts remain around the Trent and tributaries to the south of the river there is still a considerable amount of water to clear. The weather forecast is for mild temperatures, some light rain, a little sun and wind gusts picking up a little towards the end of the day. The winter solstice falls around 15:00 today therefore today is the shortest day of the year.
Sat 20th The Trent at NKC remains in Severe Flood Conditions(3.48m) having risen to 3.55m yesterday, the highest so far this year. It is starting to fall very slowly. There are Flood Alerts around the Trent and many tributaries for the full length of the river meaning there is much water to clear. The weather forecast today is for calm conditions with some mist & some sunny periods. Temperatures fairly low but not likely to be freezing.
Fri 19th Overnight the Trent has risen to Severe Flood Conditions (3.48m.) Please check the Rule of Thumb Guidance if you are not sure what this means. All club members must wear buoyancy aids on the water. There are now Flood Alerts around areas of Nottingham especially around the River Leen & Fairham Brook. Most other tributaries also have Flood Alerts around them. There are Flood Warnings at a few places around the River Dove. With no rain today, the Trent is expected to top out mid afternoon. Some sunshine is forecast and the moderate breeze could gust up to 30mph.
Thu 18th The Trent at NKC continues to rise very slowly and remains High (2.95m) With further rain forecast during much of today, heavy at times it is likely that the river will reach Very High or Severe Flood Conditions. Winds are gradually rising, gusting up to 45 mph around mid afternoon. There are Flood Alerts around the Trent upstream of Shardlow and tributaries in Warwickshire, Derbyshire and Shropshire now have Flood Alerts around them. The Soar and Wreake continue to have Flood Alerts in place.
Wed 17th Overnight, the Trent at NKC has risen to High and is still rising slowly. With more rain over the next 2 days it is likely to continue rising. There are Flood Alerts around the upper Trent, Anker, Derwent, Soar & Wreak. Rain is forecast for most of today, continuing into tomorrow, heavy at times. Wind is forecast to gust up to 40mph at times and the same tomorrow.
Tue 16th The Trent at NKC has risen to moderate (yellow 2.33m) and continues to rise fairly quickly. It can be expected to reach Slightly High before midday and the probability is that it will reach High overnight. Temperatures are dropping to freezing tonight and mist is also expected. Winds are likely to be light today although are forecast to gust up to 40mph tomorrow.
Mon 15th The Trent at NKC has continued to fall and is likely to reach Low, however continuous rain, heavy later, is likely to bring the levels up again. Winds moderate sometimes gusting 30mph.
Sun 14th The Trent continues to fall steadily and has reached Moderate (Green 2.15m) with no Flood Alerts. The weather is forecast to be mild and breezy with rain or drizzle later..
Sat 13th The Trent is falling steadily along its length. At NKC it is down to Moderate (yellow 2.32m) The only Flood Alert still in force is around the Trent between Burton & Shardlow. The weather is forecast to be calm and mild with some sunshine.
Fri 12th During the yesterday and overnight, the Trent at NKC fell steadily to Slightly High (2.61m) Flood Warnings are still in place around the Soar and the Trent between Burton & Shardlow. Some light rain and drizzle is expected this morning with the possibility of sunny periods later in the day. Winds are very light.
Thu 11th The Trent at NKC remains at High (2.93m) but is falling slowly. There are Flood Alerts around the Soar, Derwent and the Trent between Burton & Shardlow. The weather forecast is mild with a moderate breeze with gusts up to 30mph. Some sunny intervals also forecast.
Wed 10th Overnight the Trent at NKC has risen to High (2.94m) and is still rising fairly quickly. Upstream there are Flood Alerts surrounding the Trent, Soar, Dove & Erewash. At NKC the river can be expected to continue rising for several hours and may reach Very High. The weather is forecast to be calm and mild with very little rain during the next 2 days.
Tue 9th Overnight the Trent at NKC has fallen to just below Slightly High (2.48m) but with continuing rain and flood warnings surrounding many of the tributaries upstream including the Erewash, Derwent & Soar it can be expected to rise again during the day. Rain is forecast to continue with some sunshine possible. Winds are moderate to strong gusting above 50mph at times requiring great care. Overall conditions should be regarded as Slightly High to High.
Mon 8th The Trent at NKC has continued at Slightly High (Yellow 2.52m) throughout the night and into the day. Little change anticipated during the next 24 hours. Very heavy rain is expected overnight and into tomorrow, so the Trent can be expected to rise further to High. Some rain & some sunshine expected during the day. Winds are not expected to be particularly strong, however the wind is gaining strength overnight and can be exppected to gust up to 50mph tomorrow.
Sun 7th The Trent at NKC has continued to rise slowly and reached Slightly High (Yellow 2.52m) with stronger flow. The Flood Alerts around the Soar and Trent between Burton & Shardlow continue to remain in place. Further rain, heavy at times is forecast today with gusty winds potentially as strong as 50mph around teatime. Overnight the river is forecast to reach High.
Sat 6th The Trent at NKC is rising slowly but remains Moderate (Yellow 2.4m) The Flood Alerts around the Soar and Trent between Burton & Shardlow remain in place. Further rain is forecast over the next few days with gusty winds becoming stronger next week.
Fri 5th Following rain in the catchment area further up the Trent, it is forecast to start rising again. The upper part of the Trent and the tributaries in Staffordshire & Warwickshire are already rising. There are Flood Alerts in place around the Trent between Burton & Shardlow and around the Soar. The Weather forecast today is showing cloudy with some sunny periods giving way to rain, heavy at times later in the day. Beware of gusty winds developing during the day with overnight winds gusting up to 50mph.
Thu 4th Overnight the Trent at NKC fell to Moderate (Yellow 2.34m) and continues to fall steadily. The tributaries are also falling although Flood Alerts are still in place around the Trent between Burton & Shardlow. Rain and sunny periods are forecast today with a light to moderate breeze.
Wed 3rd The Trent at NKC stayed fairly steady at Slightly High (2.6m) overnight with very little change expected during the day. Flood Alerts remain around the Trent & River Sow near Stafford & between Burton & Shardlow so this will mean the Trent will be fairly slow falling. Light winds and sunny intervals are forecast during the day.
Tue 2nd C rose to Slightly High overnight and remains fairly steady. The flow is strong. There are still Flood Alerts around the Soar, the Trent between Burton & Shardlow and the tributaries in Staffordshire which will keep the Trent at a similar level. Weather is calm and sunny.
Mon 1st Dec The Trent at NKC remains level at Moderate & only just short of Slightly High. Continuing rain and raised levels upstream suggest that the Trent at NKC will soon rise to Slightly High or High during the day. There are Flood Alerts around many of the tributaries and the Trent above Shardlow. Windy weather will contribute to making conditions on the river hazardous.
Sun 30th Overnight the Trent at NKC rose to Moderate just short of Slightly High. Currently it is levelling out but is forecast to rise further. Care is required.
Fri 28th The River Trent at NKC remains Low. Along its length to Nottingham the levels are Steady. Winds are Moderate with some light rain or drizzle and sunny periods at times.
Wed 26th The River has fallen back to Low. Flow rate is still a bit stronger especially upstream of NKC. The weather is cold, gradually warming during the day. Winds light with sunshine during the morning, with the possibility of light rain or drizzle later. Flood Alerts have been cleared on the Soar.
Tue 25th The Trent at NKC has risen then fallen again but remains moderate. It is expected to fall further during the day. The tributaries are also falling although Flood Alerts are still in place around the Soar. The weather is sunny with a gentle breeze although overnight temperatures are set to be freezing (-4C)
Mon 24 Overnight the Trent at NKC almost reached slightly high but has begun to level out at Moderate (2.35m) Most of the tributaries have levelled out although Flood Alerts remain in place around the River Soar. The weather is forecast to be slightly milder with some drizzle & sunny periods during the day.
Sun 23 18:00 During the day the Trent at NKC has risen steadily from Low to Moderate (Green) but is now approaching Moderate (Yellow -2.2m.) As the rate at which the river is rising is fairly consistent it can be expected to reach Slightly High (Yellow 2.5m) by tomorrow morning. Upstream, the tributaries are rising and the Soar already has Flood Alerts around it.
Sat 22nd 8:00 Despite overnight rain the Trent continues to fall (1.72m) The River Leen is the only tributary to be rising at the moment. The weather is expected to continue with light rain & drizzle with a moderate breeze.
Fri 21st 8:00 The Trent at NKC has returned to Low & all Flood Alerts removed. The river continues to fall along its length. Currently the tributaries are all either falling or steady. The weather forecast for today is cold, calm & sunny. The next few days remain cool with some rain and some sunny periods.
Thu 20th 8:00 The Trent at NKC has fallen to Moderate (2.22m) overnight and continues to fall slowly. There are still Flood Alerts between Burton & Shardlow. The weather is calm and cold with freezing temperatures forecast tonight.
Wed 19th 8:00 The Trent at NKC has fallen to Slightly High (2.57m) but the tributaries to the north of the Trent have begun rising again after rain. Flood Alerts remain around the Soar and the Trent between Burton & Shardlow. Temperatures are low during the day and freezing overnight. Winds moderate gusting up to 35mph.
Tue 18th 8:00 The Trent at NKC is still High (2.96m) and falling slowly. Great care still required. The upper part of the Trent above Shardlow is still very high with Flood Alerts around the Trent above Shardlow & tributaries above Burton. The Soar also still has Flood Alerts in place. Rain is forecast for today and continuing low temperature could lead to sleet tomorrow. As the flow around NKC is still strong and the level high, precautions like buoyancy aids are still necessary.
Mon 17th 10:00 The Trent at NKC has fallen to High (3.24m) and continues to fall steadily. The tributaries are either steady or already falling although Flood Alerts remain in place above Shardlow and around the tributaries with some Flood Warnings also still active. The weather is calm & sunny with no rain forecast today.
Sun 16th 8:00 The Trent at NKC reached Severe Flood Conditions (3.73m at Colwick) during the night but is now falling. The Flood Alerts are still in place around the entire catchment from Staffordshire downstream. There are also one or two Flood Warnings in place. Less wind is forecast but temperatures are lower and an overnight frost is likely in places around NKC. Although the Trent at NKC has begun to fall, above Burton on Trent it is still rising as the tributaries empty. The flooding in fields around Shardlow & Willington also needs to drain. This means that at NKC the level will fall fairly slowly at the moment.
Sat 15th 6:00 The Trent at NKC has risen more rapidly overnight to High (3.12m at Colwick.) As it is still rising rapidly it should be expected to reach Very High during the day. As rain is expected to continue it could reach a higher level. Flood Alerts remain in force around all the tributaries and the upper part of the Trent above Burton. These extend to the Trent at NKC. The Flood Warnings are still in place with a few others round minor tributaries but no Severe Flood Warnings. Temperatures are lower than recently but winds are much lighter.
Fri 14th 18:00 The Trent at NKC has continued rising steadily and is Moderate (yellow) but likely to reach Slightly High or even High overnight. All the tributaries and the upper part of the Trent are also rising. There are Flood Alerts across the whole Trent catchment with Flood Warnings already in place around the River Soar in Loughborough.
Fri 14th The Trent at NKC is Moderate and will become Moderate (yellow) during the morning. The flow is stronger and some debris can be expected. Upstream there are Flood Alerts around the tributaries and parts of the Trent above Shardlow. Although EA shows Clifton to be Steady, upstream of there, the river has already begun to rise further. The river can be expected to reach Slightly High and High in the near future. All forecasts predict heavy rain for much of today with a fresh breeze (20+mph.) XC Weather is warning of gusts of 40+mph. Temperatures are falling and wintery showers are currently forecast for next week. Paddlers need to take additional precautions for all these factors.
Thu13th The Trent at NKC has reached Moderate (green) and is steady. Most tributaries have levelled out, but the Trent above Shardlow is still rising.
Wed 12th 15:00 The Trent at NKC is still rising (nearly level with the bottom step) and will be Moderate by this evening. The upper Trent above Burton is rising quite quickly so will continue rising at NKC for at least 24 hours and can be expected to reach Moderate or Slightly High by tomorrow.
Wed 12th The Trent at NKC is still Low but rising with increased flow. Further upstream the river has risen more and some of the tributaries are also rising. With heavy rain forecast around lunchtime it can be expected to rise further possibly to Moderate before tomorrow.
Tue 11th The Trent at NKC remains Low although recent rain has brought it up a little and the flow is stronger. Upstream, the river continues to rise and the forecast rain is likely to bring the upper parts of the Trent higher still with some increase at the club probable. At the moment the forecast is showing heavy rain all day Friday which will have an impact. By next week daytime temperatures are set to fall and overnight temperatures could reach freezing. Winds are forecast to be light but by the weekend are probably from the North so much colder.
Wed 5th Nov The Trent remains Low for this time of year. The rain has brought some increased flow. Upstream the larger tributaries and the upper Trent above Burton are rising and this may have some effect at the club in 12 -24 hours. Little rain is forecast for the next few days so the effect is not likely to be too significant at this time.
Wed 15th Oct The Trent remains very low with little change in flow. Looking back at 2024 late Sept early Oct the river had already begun to rise. The same was true in 2023, however with the current forecast that looks unlikely in 2025.
Wed 24th Sept The Trent remains very low with little change in flow. Currently rain causes little change.
Sun 6th July Persistent rain has caused part of the Trent above Burton to rise. The extreme low summer level is unlikely to be affected much or cause particular problems apart from the possibility of debris being dislodged after the dry weather. The Soar and other tributaries to the south part of the catchment area are forecast to rise slightly. There is also a warning of possible thunderstorms during the morning.
Fri 6th June Persistent rain has caused the upper part of the Trent above Shardlow to rise, together with some of the tributaries. As all have been low for some time, this rise could result in debris in the Trent. Some care required on the water over the next few days.
Mon 3rd The Trent has returned to Low (1.95) although the flow is still quite strong. All Flood Alerts in the catchment area have been removed. The temperature is slightly milder with a light breeze and a chance of some sunshine.
Sun 2nd Feb The Trent remains at Moderate (2.14) Flood Alerts remain around the lower part of the Soar but others have been removed. weather is dry & cool with some sunny periods and a gentle breeze.
Sat 1st Feb The Trent remains at Moderate (2.28) Flood Alerts remain in force around the Soar and minor tributaries around the Dove in Shropshire & Staffordshire. The weather is forecast to remain cool, calm and overcast, feeling damp. Improving slightly tomorrow.
Fri 31st The Trent continues to fall slowly and is down to Moderate (2.25) Flood Alerts remain in Force around the Trent between Burton & Shardlow and around the Soar between Cossington & the Trent. The weather is expected to be cool, overcast and calm.
Thu 30th The Trent continues to fall slowly and is down to Slightly High (2.57) It should reach Moderate by lunch time. Flood Alerts remain in place around the Trent between Burton & Shardlow and around the Soar between Cossington & the Trent. Weather is forecast to be sunny with little wind but cool temperatures still.
Wed 29th The Trent rose to High (2.77) overnight but is already falling slowly (2.72) It can be expected to fall to Slightly High or Moderate during the day. Flood Alerts remain in place around the Trent below Burton and on the bottom part of the Soar. With nor rain forecast, the Trent can be expected to continue falling. Temperatures are still cool with possible freezing overnight. Winds light.
Tue 28th The Trent at NKC has risen overnight to Slightly High (2.59) and is expected to continue to rise and likely to reach High during the day. Flood Alerts remain around the Trent between Burton & Shardlow and on the Soar between Mountsorrel and the Trent. Temperatures are slightly milder but more rain is expected with the possibility of occasional sunshine. The forecast of sun with little or no rain later in the week suggests that the river will start to fall fairly soon.
Mon 27th The Trent at NKC is still Low (1.82) and still rising slowly. Flood Alerts are still in place around the Trent between Burton & Shardlow and on the Soar between Cossington & the Trent. The weather remains cold with gusty wind late morning and some sunshine.
Sun 26th 21:00 Although the Trent at NKC is still Low (1.63m) please be aware that rain, heavy at times is forecast to continue tonight. There are Flood Alerts around the Leen, Erewash & Soar so that by morning the river can be expected to rise to at least Moderate and could reach High by tomorrow afternoon.
Thu 23rd Although the Trent at NKC is currently Low (1.56m) please be aware that rain, heavy at times is forecast for today. There is also still an Amber Weather Warning in place starting overnight and extending into Friday with winds expected to gust over 50mph.
Fri 17th The Trent at NKC continues to fall & has returned to Low (1.86) The Flood Alerts have all been removed. The weather is slightly milder, dry with light winds.
Thu 16th The Trent is falling & has returned to Moderate (2.1. Green) The rivers Wye/Derwent still have Flood Alerts round them as they clear the snow melt. Once Fog and mist clear there is some sun forecast with light winds throughout the day. It is expected that mist will return during the evening. Temperature is still cold but not expected to fall much overnight.
Wed 15th Recent rain in the Peak District has brought the Derwent up with Flood Alerts along its length. This in turn is bringing the Trent at NKC up again. It has reached Moderate (2.25m) With little chance of further rain, it is unlikely to rise much above Slightly High. Daytime temperatures may reach double figures once the mist clears and winds are forecast to be a gentle breeze.
Tue 14th The Trent at NKC has fallen to Low (1.8) and continues to fall slowly. Weather is slightly warmer, but overnight temperatures are still close to freezing later in the week. Flood Alerts have now all cleared upstream of NKC.
Mon 13th The Trent at NKC has fallen to Moderate (2.00) and continues to fall slowly. Flood Alerts are still active around the Soar from Cossington to the Trent. Weather is forecast to be cool, clear and calm.
Sun 12th The Trent at NKC has fallen to Moderate (2.28) The only remaining Flood Alerts are around the Soar & Wreake. The weather is cold with a light winds and some sunshine.
Sat 11th The Trent at NKC continues to fall steadily and is currently High (2.83) Flood Alerts remain in place from Burton downwards, around the Wreak & Soar. Temperature remain around freezing today but are expected to gradually warm a little during the coming week. Mist & fog are expected today with some sunshine and only light winds.
Thu 9th The Trent at NKC has fallen considerably but remains in Severe Flood. (3.56m) Many of the Flood Warnings and Alerts have cleared. Flood Alerts remain for the Trent, Soar and some minor tributaries. Flood Warnings are also still in place for the Trent from Burton to Shardlow. The weather is cold, barely rising above freezing during the day, but there is some sunshine and winds are very light.
Wed 8th 8:00 The Trent at NKC has continued to rise slowly and now stands at (4.82m) as the water drains down from around the catchment area. This is only 15cm below the highest in recent years (2000 was higher.) Flood Warnings local to NKC have now been extended to Beeston Lock & Marina, the whole of Clifton Grove from the corner to Clifton Bridge, the Park & Ride at Clifton Bridge, and the whole of the area between Lady Bay & the Trent. The weather remains very cold not rising much above freezing. The winds are light and sunny intervals are expected for the early part of the day.
Tue 7th 8:00 The Trent at NKC has continued to rise but is levelling off at (4.51) which is highest since October 2023. The whole Trent catchment has Flood Alerts around rivers & streams. There are Flood Warnings around the Trent, Dove, Derwent, Soar, Anker, Tame, Cole, Blythe and the Soar also has a Severe Flood Warning for the area around Quorn & Mountsorrel. Flood Warnings around West Bridgford (The Hook, Ladybay) Wilford & Holme Pierrepont NWSC mean that roads local to the club may be closed. The same applies at Attenborough Nature Reserve & surrounding area. The weather remains cold with freezing overnight temperatures forecast for the next few days. Light wind, light wind with possible sunshine are likely today, with more sun expected on Wednesday & Thursday.
Mon 6th 22:30 The River continues to rise and has reached (4.29m) only 6cm per hour so seems to be slowing the rate of increase.

Mon 6th 8:30 The River continues to rise rapidly and has reached Severe Flood Conditions. (3.4m) Conditions are likely to remain extremely hazardous as the flood water drains down from all around the Trent catchment area.
Mon 6th 8:00 With prolonged and heavy rain overnight the Trent at NKC has risen rapidly to Very High (3.3m) and is still rising. It is expected to reach Severe Flood conditions during the day with water onto the grass below the club. There are Flood Alerts along the whole of the Trent upstream & most tributaries, with Flood Warnings on the Soar, Anker, Tame, Blythe & Rea around the West Midlands. To the North of the Trent, Flood Warnings are in place for the Derwent, Dove & Erewash. The weather remains wet & cold with a moderate breeze with rain dying out around midday. At the moment the forecast for the rest of the week is to remain cold but drier.
Sun 5th The Trent has fallen to Moderate (2.03) but is already rising slowly again and can be expected to be Slightly High later today & High by tomorrow morning. The weather is mainly cold & wet with light winds.
Sat 4th The Trent has fallen to Moderate (2.32) and is continuing to fall. Flood Alerts have largely been removed except around the Trent between Burton & Shardlow. The temperature remains cold with sleet or snow forecast to start this evening and continue into tomorrow before turning into persistent rain throughout the day. The Trent can be expected to rise from tomorrow onward, with the rain continueing into Monday.
Fri 3rd The Trent remains High (2.71) and is steady but can be expected to fall slowly. There are still Flood Alerts on the Trent from Stafford to Shardlow and on the north western part of the catchment area so the Trent at NKC is likely to fall slowly. The weather is cold some sunshine & light winds. Overnight temperatures are expected to stay around freezing. Prolonged rain is expected on Sunday.
Thu 2nd The Trent has risen rapidly in the past 12 hours, reached High (2.74) and is still rising. Many of the the upstream tributaries have Flood Alerts round them and there are some Flood Warnings on the Dove. Air temperature is cold with ice on some roads, but it is expected to be dry and sunny during the day. Overnight temperatures are again expected to reach freezing.
Wed 1st Jan 2025 The Trent at NKC is Low (1.62) but has begun rising. The forecast is to be overcast with rain gradually easing. There are already Flood Alerts on many of the tributaries so the rise can be expected to continue. Temperature is mild but expected to reach freezing by tonight.
Fri 27th The Trent at NKC has continued to fall slowly & is down to Low (1.78) and is steady. All Flood Alerts are cleared. The weather is cool & overcast with light wind. No further reports until there is significant change.
Thu 26th The Trent at NKC has fallen slowly & remains Moderate (1.91) and is steady. The weather is cool & overcast with a slight chance of rain but little wind.

Rain is expected this afternoon.
Sun 22nd The Trent at NKC remains High (2.72) and is falling slowly along its length and can be expected to get down to Slightly High during the day. Flood Alerts are still in place down to Shardlow and around the Soar. There is a possibility of sleet early on with occasional rain & sunny periods. Temperatures rise slightly during the day but remain cool. The threat of high wind is still there starting around 12:00 but not lasting so long. Gusts in excess of 50mph are forecast between 14:00 & 18:00.
Sat 21st The Trent at NKC remains High (2.94) stopping just short of Very High. It's steady along the lower part of the river but Flood Alerts are still in place around much of the upper Trent, the Tame around Tamworth & the Soar. The weather is forecast to be mild with a little rain at times and some squalls of strong wind. Beware - the forecast for strong winds (40-50mph) for much of Sunday remains in place.
Fri 20th The Trent at NKC has risen to High (2.86) Some rain is forecast for the afternoon and there is a moderate breeze. There are Flood Alerts on the tributaries to the south and west of the catchment area with Flood Warnings in place around the River Anker. With further rain forecast over the next few days it is expected that the Trent will be slow to fall. Beware the forecast for strong winds, with some on Saturday and most of Sunday. Gusts in excess of 50mph are forecast.
Thu 19th With the rain in various parts of the region yesterday and last night, the Trent rose rapidly overnight to Moderate (2.26) and continues rising. It's likely to reach slightly high during the day. The weather is cool with some sunshine and a moderate breeze.
15th The Trent has continued falling slowly to Low (1.85) Weather - mild, overcast with a moderate breeze.
Sat 14th The Trent has continued falling slowly to Moderate (1.99) and is expected to return to Low during the day. There are no Flood Alerts around the Trent catchment. The weather is cool, sunny and calm for much of the day warming to mild overnight.
Fri 13th The Trent at NKC has continued to fall to Moderate (2.32) Flood Alerts remain around the Trent between Burton & Shardlow and around the River Soar. The weather forecast for today is cool, overcast with little wind or rain.
Thu 12th The Trent at NKC has fallen significantly. Still High (2.70) but expected to fall to Slightly High by midday. Flood Alerts still remain around the Soar, the Trent above Shardlow & some Staffordshire tributaries. The weather is expected to be calm, cool & drizzly for much of the day.
Wed 11th The Trent at NKC has started to fall and is currently High (3.20) Flow is still strong. The weather is cool & overcast with a light breeze. There are still Flood Alerts in place along the Trent from above Burton to below NKC, around the Staffordshire tributaries and the River Soar.
Tue 10th The Trent at NKC remains Very High (3.36) but is just starting to fall. Flood Alerts are still in place around the Trent and minor tributaries in Staffordshire. Air temperature is cool but rain is not so likely and the wind has dropped to a moderate breeze.
Mon 9th The Trent at NKC is High (3.28) just short of Very High. There are Flood Alerts around tributaries in Staffordshire, Shropshire & Leicestershire. The upper part of the Trent around Rugely & Stafford also have Flood Alerts and some Flood Warnings so still much water to clear. The air temperature is cool and very littlle rain is forecast. The threat of strong winds has passed.
12:00 The river has begun rising again and is High (2.88)
Sun 8th 8:00 The Trent at NKC has remained fairly steady at High (2.88) The upper part of the Trent is rising & although some tributaries are falling, others are also rising. There are Flood Alerts over a wide area around many of the tributaries particularly to the north & West around the Blith & Tame near Walsall & Tamworth and on around the Tean (Cheadle) & Churnet (Leek, Congleton & Macclesfield) This is all likely to keep the Trent fairly high for a day or two. Temperatures are cool with intermittent rain & occasional gusty winds still possible closer to Nottingham until around mid afternoon.
Sat 7th The Trent at NKC has risen to High (2.79) There are Flood Alerts on several tributaries especially in Staffordshire & Leicestershire. With rain forecast for more than 24 hours, heavy at times, the level can be expected to rise considerably over the next few days. The forecast for wind has also increased with the possibility of gusts exceeding 50mph. The resulting debris in the river adds to the hazards.
Fri 6th The Trent at NKC is Slightly High (2.58) and expected to continue rising to High (above 2.7m at Colwick) during the day. The Trent is rising along its length and there are Flood Alerts around several tributaries (Rivers Soar, Derwent, Dove & Blythe nr. Solihull) which will keep the level fairly high. Weather is cool, but clear and calm early on. Wind and rain are expected to set in again overnight.
Thu 5th The Trent at NKC is back to Low (1.87) although with considerable rain forecast over the next few days can be expected to rise again. There is still stronger than normal flow especially upstream. Today is mild with some sunshine in the morning followed by heavy rain.
Wed 4th The Trent at NKC continues to fall slowly Moderate ( green 1.98) The temperature is fairly mild and rising throughout the day. Rain is forecast for later tonight. The threat of strong winds is diminishing although heavy rain is forecast for the end of the week.
Tue 3rd The Trent at NKC is fairly steady after a slight rise Moderate ( green 2.03) There are no Flood Alerts and the level is expected to continue falling slowly. The weather is forecast to be cool & calm with some sunny spells. The forecast is for for the milder weather to continue but some rain later in the week and stronger winds for Thursday evening to Saturday morning (40+mph.)
Mon 2nd The Trent at NKC has risen slightly - Moderate ( green 2.01) The Soar once again has Flood Alerts around it and the Trent is forecast to continue to rise slowly. The weather is due to be damp and mild with temperatures falling close to freezing overnight. Tomorrow is forecast to be cooler & drier.
Sun 1st December The Trent at NKC has fallen steadily to Moderate (1.98) Flood Alerts have cleared and the temperature is still mild although rain is expected during the morning and at night. Temperatures are expected to fall back to freezing tomorrow night.
Sat 30th The Trent at NKC has fallen steadily to Slightly High (2.33) Most Flood Alerts have cleared. Weather is mild & dry.
Fri 29th The Trent at NKC remains High (2.72) and falling more quickly. It is likely to get down to Slightly High during the day. Flood Alerts remain in place around the upper part of the Trent as far down as Shardlow and on the River Soar & its tributaries. Much of the day is sunny with temperatures rising a little.
Thu 28th The Trent at NKC remains High (3.01) although falling slowly. Flood Alerts remain around the Trent above Shardlow, the Soar and parts of the River Tame near Tamworth. The area around Willington is flooded on the "wash land." Air temperature is currently freezing. Although sunny this morning it is unlikely to raise the temperature much before it falls back tonight. The forecast is for very little wind before this evening.
Wed 27th The Trent at NKC remains High (3.16) and is rising slowly. Further rain is expected today throughout the region with the Trent remaining at High or Very High. Winds are expected to be light with temperatures just above freezing dropping slightly overnight. Flood Alerts remain along the Trent & Soar.
Tue 26th The Trent at NKC remains High (3.04) but is falling slowly. Flood Alerts remain in place around the Trent, Tame & Soar. Temperatures are cool and are expected to fall overnight. Rain (or sleet) is expected early tomorrow turning heavy at times tomorrow morning.
Mon 25th The Trent has continued to rise to High (3.28) Flood Alerts remain in place all along the Trent and all tributaries upstream of NKC. There are Flood Warnings on the Tame near Tamworth & the Dove near Sudbury. The Trent is expected to continue rising to Severe Flood while the water upstream clears. Air temperatures are cool during the day but fall towards freezing during the night. Some sunshine & a moderate breeze gusting up to 30 mph are expected today.
Sun 24th 17:00 The Trent has continued to rise to High (2.86) Flood Alerts are now in place around the Trent and all tributaries. All precautions are even more necessary. The river is forecast to continue to rise and can be expected to be at least Very High by tomorrow morning and possibly Severe Flood.
Sun 24th Following persistent rain, the Trent at NKC has risen to Slightly High(2.59) and is still rising. The upper part of the Trent and most tributaries have Flood Alerts surrounding them. The levels are all still rising. With rain persisting this is likely to continue throughout the following days. Beware of debris and stronger flow. All safety precautions are necessary. The air temperature is much warmer today, but with melting snow, the water is likely to be much colder. Strong winds are likely throughout the day with the possibility of gusts in excess of 60mph at times (XCWeather.)
Sat 23rd The Trent at NKC remains Low (1.56) & steady for now. Further upstream the Trent is already rising. Strong winds gusting above 50mph at times are forecast together with rising temperatures. Melting snow together with persistent rain is likely to cause the Trent to rise during the day and over the rest of the weekend. Be aware that winds gusting in excess of 60 mph are currently being forecast by some weather sites (XCweather) for tomorrow.
Fri 22nd The Trent at NKC continues at Low and is still falling slowly. (1.57) Sleet turning to heavy rain is still forecast overnight and tomorrow, followed by persistent rain during Saturday. Temperatures remain low today although there will be some sunshine early on. The temperature is expected to rise during tomorrow. With the rainfall, the Trent can be expected to start to rise again by Sunday.
Thu 21st The Trent at NKC continues at Low and is falling slightly. (1.72m) Heavy rain forecast for the weekend is likely bring the river back up. Temperature today is forecast to rise to just above freezing with clear skies during the day, before the it returns to freezing during the afternoon.
Wed 20th The Trent at NKC continues to rise slowly but remains Low. Upstream, the Trent has risen more quickly so it is likely to continue rising at NKC. Water and air temperatures are low so appropriate clothing and other precautions will be necessary. The forecast is for clear, sunny weather with a high temperature of 1oC. dropping back to freezing temperatures during the afternoon and overnight.
Tue 19th Nov The Trent at NKC has risen slightly but so far remains low. Be aware that melting snow in Derbyshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, Warwickshire & Leicestershire runs into the Trent and is likely to bring the level up. Cold water temperature together with freezing air conditions are also a potential hazard. Make sure you take all safety precautions necessary with clothing, spraydecks, pogies, personal buoyancy etc. There is also a warning in place for persistent rain, heavy at times at the end of the week.
Fri 25th The Trent at NKC continues to fall slowly. Although Low (1.57m) at NKC the flow is still quite strong upstream of the Toll Bridge and even more so above Clifton Bridge. There is still some turbulence.
Wed 23rd The Trent at NKC is going down slowly and is back to Low (1.93m green)
Mon 21st The Trent at NKC is at Moderate (2.39m) There are Flood Alerts still active between Burton & Shardlow on the Trent, The Rivers Tame & Soar also have flood Alerts around them in places.
Sat 19th The Trent at NKC has risen slightly but remains Low (1.87m) although above the Toll Bridge the increased flow is noticeable. The River Dove in the Peak District, the Blythe & Tame in Shropshire & Staffordshire & the upper part of the Trent all have Flood Alerts active around them. This could all affect the level and flow of the Trent at NKC in the next 48 hours.
Sat 12th The Trent at NKC is returning to Low (1.82m) There is still a strong flow as the flooding around the Soar clears.
Fri 11th The Trent at NKC remains at Moderate (Green 2.12m) and falling slowly. Flood Alerts remain in areas around the Soar. The Trent upstream of NKC still has slightly stronger flow and a little turbulence.
Thu 10th The Trent at NKC has levelled out at Moderate (2.29m green. The Flood Alerts for the Soar & Anker remain in place.
Wed 9th The Trent has begun rising again and has just reached Moderate (Green 2.01m) There are already Flood Alerts in areas surrounding the rivers Anker & Soar.

Sat 5th The Trent at NKC has fallen more quickly and reached Moderate (2.42 yellow.) Flood Alerts are still in place around the Trent between Burton & Shardlow and the Soar & its tributaries. This means that flow above NKC is still stronger and less predictable than when the river is low.
Fri 4th The Trent continues to fall slowly but remains at High (2.91m) Flood Warnings have been removed although a few Flood Alerts continue around the upper Trent, Soar & Wreake.
Thu 3rd Conditions at NKC remain at High (3.18) with the Trent falling very slowly. Flood Alerts remain in place around the upper Trent, Anker & Soar. There is a Flood warning around Barrow & Quorn. The Trent is expected to continue falling slowly.
Wed 2nd 8:00 The Trent at NKC rose to its highest so far this winter topping just above 3.3m at around 1:00. It is currently Very High & steady (3.3m) Much of the catchment area to the south of the Trent still has Flood Alerts in place. There are Flood Warnings still in place for parts of the Soar & its tributaries so the Trent will fall slowly while it clears.
Tue 1st Oct The Trent at NKC has risen fairly sharply overnight and is now at High (2.79) and still rising. There ae Flood Alerts along the river system with one or two Flood Warnings.
Mon 30th The Trent at NKC has fallen slowly to Moderate (green 2.19m) The Soar still has Flood Alerts in place.
Sat 28th The Trent at NKC is rising and stands at Moderate (Yellow 2.3m) as floods upstream clear. There is turbulence particularly above the Toll Bridge. Flood warnings & Flood Alerts are still in place for some areas around the Rivers Soar, Wreak & Anker.
Fri 27th The Trent at NKC has remained at Moderate (green 1.99m) but is forecast to rise in the next 24 hours. Flood Alerts around the tributaries to the north of the Trent have been removed but around the Soar, Wreake ,Anker and associated rivers to the South, remain in place and in some cases have increased to Flood Warnings. The upper Trent around Staffordshire is already rising again.
Thu 26th The Trent at NKC is falling slowly at the moment and is down to Moderate (Green 2.09m) There are less Flood Alerts in the area although still in place for the Trent from Burton to Shardlow, the Soar & Erewash. Rain forecast for today is likely to bring levels back up by tomorrow.
Wed 25th The Trent at NKC remains at Moderate (2.21m) There are still Flood Alerts active on the River Anker & Soar and the Trent between Burton & Shardlow with roads closed & fields still showing flowing flood water. This is likely to keep the level at NKC up.
Tue 24th With an improved weather forecast, the Trent at NKC is fairly steady at Moderate (2.33m) Flood Alerts remain in place for the upper Trent and tributaries meaning that there is still water draining into the Trent. Further rain is forecast for Wednesday, Thursday & Friday which is also likely to keep the level at NKC up.
Mon 23rd The Trent has continued to rise to Moderate (2.37m) With continued rain it is expected to rise further. Beware of debris & stronger currents than recent weeks. There are Flood Alerts in many areas surrounding the upper Trent and all its tributaries this means the Trent will rise further & remain high while they clear.
Sun 22nd Sep Although the Trent is still Low (1.76m) with the persistent rain overnight it has already risen fairly quickly. Although the EA forecast is likely to exaggerate how high it will get, with Flood Alerts already in place around several of the tributaries that have experienced sharp rises, the Trent is likely to reach moderate at the least. Paddlers should be aware that considerable debris that has collected in tributaries over the summer will be in the river. The weather forecast for the next few days is also for additional rainfall, sometimes heavy so conditions could become worse. Currents can still be quite strong even though the river level may not have risen much especially upstream of Wilford Church. Any further significant information will be posted here.

Thu 22nd 8:00 The Trent at NKC has risen overnight returning to Severe Flood conditions (3.52m) and is forecast to continue rising. The upper Trent and northern tributaries are rising with Flood Alerts across the catchment but so far no Flood Warnings. 12:00 The Trent has risen further (3.67m) and there are now flood warnings around the Soar, Erewash & Dove.
Wed 21st 8:00 The Trent at NKC has continued to fall overnight to High (3.27m) however the northern tributaries (Erewash, Derwent & Dove) have already started to rise again and the Trent can also be expected to rise again soon. Winds gusting in excess of 40mph are expected from mid morning, moderating slightly (30mph) towards mid afternoon. Flood Alerts remain in place in the Trent catchment area although there are currently no flood warnings. 13:00 The Trent has begun rising again.
Tue 20th 8:00 The Trent at NKC has continued to rise slowly and remains in Severe Flood Conditions (3.65m) Flood Alerts remain in place but there are no Flood Warnings. 17:00 The Trent is showing a slight drop along its length but at NKC remains in Severe Flood.
Mon 19th The Trent at NKC has continued to rise rapidly overnight to Severe Flood conditions once more. It is still rising but more slowly (3.45m) There is a Flood Alert in place for the whole Trent catchment with some Flood Warnings around the Soar and Tame.

Fri 16th Feb The Trent at NKC has remained steady at High (2.7m), only fluctuating a few centimetres. There are no Flood Warnings locally, but the Flood Alerts remain for the Soar & the Trent between Burton & Shardlow. Flow is still fast and there is considerable turbulence in all parts of the Trent around NKC.
Thu 15th Feb The Trent at NKC has remained steady over yesterday (2.77m) with slight rise & fall. It is currently rising slowly and remains at High. Flood Alerts remain the same and there are no Flood Warnings in the catchment area above NKC.
Wed 14th Feb The Trent at NKC has begun to rise slowly again (2.77m) having reached a low over night (2.66m Slightly High) Flood alerts remain between Burton & Shardlow & on the Soar. The upper Trent and all the tributaries have also begun rising as a result of rain yesterday.
Tue 13th Feb The Trent at NKC continues to fall steadily and is down to High. (3.07m) Some Flood Alerts remain in place but the only Flood Warnings are now downstream of NKC. The Upper Trent and tributaries are all well down with only the fields around Willington likely to still be awash.
Mon 12th Feb The Trent at NKC is falling (3.75m) but still in Severe Flood conditions. Although it is expected to continue falling, Flood alerts remain in place for most of the catchment with Flood Warnings for the areas around the Trent between Willington & Shardlow and on the Soar at Zouch.
Sun 11th Feb 8:00 The Trent at NKC has continued to rise overnight and remains in Severe Flood conditions (3.88m) The conditions can be expected to continue for a few hours although the tributaries are all falling now. Flood Alerts are still in place for the whole catchment system with Flood Warnings for considerable sections around the Trent & Soar. 13:45 The Trent at NKC continues to rise (4:01m) and is still rising upstream to Willington. The upper Trent (above Burton) and all the tributaries are now falling.
Sat 10th Feb 8:00 Overnight the Trent has continued rising to Severe Flood conditions (3.69m) and is still rising slowly. As snow on higher ground melts it is likely to continue rising. There is a Flood Alert for the entire Trent catchment system with some Flood Warnings in place around the parts of the Rivers Derwent, Soar, Erewash & Dove & their tributaries.
Fri 9th Feb 8:00 Following recent rain or snow, the Trent has risen more rapidly overnight to high (3.12m) The upper Trent and all tributaries have risen and there are Flood Alerts surrounding them. The River Soar also has some Flood Warnings in place.
Thu 8th Feb The Trent at NKC has risen overnight to Moderate (2.08m) and will continue to rise. The upper Trent and tributaries have risen slightly and are now falling but with rain sleet and snow forecast across the Trent catchment area it may reach the Trent at NKC & may reach High in the next 48 hours. The flow upstream of the Toll Bridge is fairly strong .

Flood Alerts extend throughout the Trent catchment area and numerous Flood Warnings are in place. Weather forecasts predict drier colder weather. Beware freezing overnight temperatures for the next few days.

Sun Oct 22nd 6:00 The Trent is in Severe Flood conditions and fluctuating as it levels out (between 4.92 & 4.94 metres.) Most tributaries are either level or falling but the Trent in Staffordshire continues to rise. 11:00 Similar height, less debris, more turbulence. very strong current at the suspension bridge. Just on the grass by the Memorial Gate more grass covered towards Trent Bridge, but well below 2000 levels. 12:00 The river has resumed rising (4.97 at Colwick)

Upstream of Nottingham, the Upper Trent and all the major tributaries are also in flood meaning this condition will last several days. 8:00 The river continues to rise (4.34 metres at Colwick) 12:00 The River continues to rise. (4.5m at Colwick) but is beginning to level out. 15:00 The river is reaching its peak and will begin to fall (4.6m at Colwick.)
