VE Day 75

Socially Distanced Street Party in Nocton

VE Day 75 Street Party in Nocton!

(18 Apr 2020). We had hoped that we would be able to mark the end of the Second World War in Europe, VE Day, with our official weekend of Nocton Hub opening celebrations on 8 May 2020. However, we can still show how strong the community spirit in Nocton is and celebrate together - but at a safe and legal distance - by having parties in our own gardens!

Communities all across Lincolnshire and the UK will be decorating their houses in red, white and blue and have a picnic in their front garden to celebrate.

Why not join in with some flags, bunting or decorations and celebrate freedom, albeit at a respectful distance, with your neighbours to mark this momentous anniversary? The VE-VJ Day 75 official website has advice on 1945 themed food and music, and there are further resources on the English Heritage site:

As a suggestion, why don't we have our private Nocton parties from 1400 hrs on Friday 8 May so that if people want to go for their daily exercise walk around the village in the afternoon they can wave and say hello to everyone?
