I have lots of details here but it's actually VERY easy to ride the train.
Google Maps does a good job of staying up-to-date.
So, detours are included and up-to-date, when happening (route cancellations, etc)
This site has a menu! Look for it - many jewels are to be discovered!
Do yourself a favor and install the app on your phone, before leaving home.
Get the RTD MyRide app, for your phone!
Or, use a computer/browser, for Service Alerts (delays) and Route Planning
RTD Website for "Next Ride"
Three little letters... just remember these three letters (for the train "names"):
AED (south bound)
Mnemonic: "Automatic External Defibrillator"
Going from DIA to Littleton-Mineral Stations

DEA (north bound)
Mnemonic: "Drug Enforcement Agency")

If you got here via my CT Hiker Info website, here's a link to return to the CT Hiker Info website
Install the RTD MyRide App onto your smartphone
NOTE: You can buy paper tickets, at ticket kiosks at the airport and at each RTD Train station
Look at the following train routes:
A-Train
E-Train
D-Train
Check for bus and train "Service Alerts" (un/planned route outages, maintenance, detours, etc)
Look at the alerts for the trains/routes you need
Check Google Maps and the RTD-Denver website, for train times
Look at route from Denver Airport Stations to Littleton-Mineral Station
Look at route from Union Station to Littleton-Mineral Station
Skip buying from a kiosk and save time!
"Use your mobile phone to scan and ride with RTD MyRide! RTD tickets and passes also available on the Uber and Transit apps."
You can purchased tickets WAAAAY in advance - they expire 44+ days after purchase
Once you board the train, "Activate" the ticket(s) purchased, on your phone/app
Purchased tickets will be listed in the app's "Ticket Wallet"
You can choose to save your payment method, or not, in the app (I choose not to, by default, for most apps - in case they get hacked)
The RTD MyRide app lets you scan and ride using your MyRide mobile barcode. Simply scan your barcode at validators on buses and rail platforms and your fare is automatically deducted from your account balance.
Simply open the RTD MyRide app and scan your MyRide barcode at the validator, and your fare will automatically be deducted from your MyRide balance. Scan before every trip and transfer and you'll never pay more than you should as fares are capped at the cost of a Day and Monthly Pass!
Pre-purchase tickets for future use or buy a ticket on the day of travel
(Pre-purchased tickets expire 45 days after purchase even if not activated. Activated tickets expire at 2:59 a.m. the following morning after activation)
Select "Buy Ticket"
Select ticket type
Enter payment info and the pass is delivered instantly
Activate your ticket before boarding a bus or train
Show to operator and fare inspector
The train is one of many great features of my home (and why I live here)!
They do have outages, from time to time, so be sure to check things online
Google Maps does an OK job of keeping up to date but checking yourself, from the source, adds confidence
Check online for train status - which changes daily (due to labor shortages, maintenances, power outages, etc)
For train-schedule details, go to www.rtd-denver.com/services/rail
RTD "Service Alerts"
Start at their homepage, for links to view "Live Alerts": https://app.rtd-denver.com/alerts
Sign up to receive service alerts by route
Click on each Service Alter, to check out their Alerts and to "View Live Map" or "View Schedule" pages
The site's info is presented in a wonky way, so be persistent to get to what you need!
You only need alerts for the trains: A, E, and D
A-Train
View Live Map https://app.rtd-denver.com/nextride/route/A
E-Train
View Live Map https://app.rtd-denver.com/nextride/route/E
D-Train

NOTE: Don't freak out, when you see alerts/cancellations:
It may look like a lot of alerts but there are a LOT of rides, too (2022 numbers, shown here)
The A-Train had a total of about 72 trains/trips daily. Roughly 30 trips before noon and roughly 40 trips at/after noon.
The E-Train had a total of about 65-81 trains/trips daily. Roughly 25-34 trips before noon and roughly 40-47 trips at/after noon.
The D-Train had a total of about 66-72 trains/trips daily. Roughly 30 trips before noon and roughly 40 trips at/after noon.

Sadly, the C-Train is no longer in service (it was the only direct train, from Union Station to Littleton-Mineral Station)
