RTD Website for "Next Ride"
Depending on gaps between transfers, from my front door and the DIA security lines, it takes about 2 hours on the DEA/AED trains
This info is subject to change, so VERIFY before leaving home!
~40 minutes between DIA and Union Station (downtown Denver)
~1 hour between Union Station and my front door (with 5 minutes "buffer")
Includes a 12-minute wait, to transfer between D and E trains
All time estimates assume no detours or delays along the way (missed transfer, stopping to shop and explore downtown Denver, etc)
Included in the time estimates is a 15-minute walk (0.65 miles) between my house and the Littleton-Mineral Station
The Google Maps' route adds 5 minutes to this leg
Starting at/inside the DIA Main Terminal
Go to the south side of the Main Terminal (where Westin Hotel is located)
Go down the looong escalator
Escalators is located outside the security gates, through the glass doors
At bottom of escalators
Turn right and start walking toward the ticket kiosks
While walking, look left (toward train tracks) to see signs by tracks, with the time until next train departs
This window of time may be short, so don't delay getting a ticket
Look straight ahead and to the right, for train ticket kiosks
People may or may not be gathered at the kiosks
Some kiosks are located along the wall that's "under" the escalators (look right and backward)
Look for people walking from the trains to the escalators
SOME PEOPLE MAY GIVE YOU THEIR TICKET (free ride)
When buying ticket(s)
Each rider must buy a full-day "all regions" ticket (at the ticket kiosks)
There may only be ONE option for "tickets" to buy
OPTIONAL: Look for incoming passengers (some may hand you their valid ticket, for free)
Valid until 2:59 am (check ticket) - to ride ANYWHERE the trains/buses go
Take the A-Train (from DIA to Union Station)
Any train at the DIA airport station is an A-Train
The south/west bound A-train originates at DIA
The south/west bound A-Train terminates at Union Station, in downtown Denver
If there is time, board the train car that is farthest from the ticket kiosks at DIA
This saves time, when walking from Union Station to the RTD Light Rail platform
Starting at the Union Station building
Put the Union Station building at your back and walk several blocks to get to the RTD Light Rail train platforms
Union Station
QX3X+8R Denver, Colorado
RTD Light Rail (platform for E-Train)
QX4W+3M Denver, Colorado
Along your walk, you'll go past Whole Foods Market, on the right
Whole Foods
QX3X+RF Denver, Colorado
This is the closest you'll be, walking-wise, for a grocery store
Other options for buying food/snacks:
There is a 7-Eleven, 1.0 miles from my house, to buy Smart brand liter/water bottles
There are two grocery stores, 2 miles from my house
Keep walking until you cannot walk any further
You'll cross one set of train tracks
Trains on this track are northbound
You'll end up standing at the farthest train platform, away from Union Station, with a fence on the other side of the train tracks
Trains on this track are southbound
Take the E-Train (southbound, from Union Station to I-25/Broadway Station)
https://www.rtd-denver.com/app/route/E/schedule
The E-Train originates at this platform
I-25/Broadway Station
P225+JX Denver, Colorado
This is usually the 5th stop, after leaving Union Station
Pay attention to get off at the correct stop
WARNING: Guests have accidentally gotten distracted by their phones and ridden the train all the way to the end - this is a LONG trip back!
At the I-25/Broadway Station: Transfer from the E-Train to the D-Train
Get off of the E-Train
You need to walk west (toward the mountains), to get to Track 3
Depending on where you exit the train, you will walk over 1-2 train tracks (Tracks 1 and 2)
Track 3 is the farthest-west tracks (farthest from the parking lot) at this station
Trains on Track 3 are southbound (yes, you're heading south)
Take the D-Train (southbound, from I-25/Broadway Station to Littleton-Mineral Station)
Littleton-Mineral Station
HXJG+22 Littleton, Colorado
The Littleton-Mineral Station is the LAST stop on the southbound D-Train
At the Littleton-Mineral Station: This is the final train stop, so exit the train
Walk 0.65 miles to my home (it is mostly uphill - it's not steep but it's steady)
