Depending on gaps between transfers, from my front door and the DIA security lines, it takes at least 2 hours on the DEA/AED trains
This info is subject to change, so VERIFY before leaving home!
~40 minutes between DIA and Union Station (downtown Denver)
~1 hour between Union Station and my front door (with 5 minutes "buffer")
Includes a 12-minute wait, to transfer between D and E trains
All time estimates assume no detours or delays along the way (missed transfer, stopping to shop and explore downtown Denver, etc)
Included in the time estimates is a 15-minute walk (0.65 miles) between my house and the Littleton-Mineral Station
The Google Maps' route adds 5 minutes to this leg
Starting at my home: Walk to Littleton-Mineral Station
Be sure to take the shortcut! https://sites.google.com/view/no-car-no-problem/shortcut
Walk 0.65 miles to the train station (it is mostly downhill - it's not steep but it's steady)
At the Littleton-Mineral Station:
Buy train tickets at the ticket kiosk
The ticket kiosk is located near the train tracks and pedestrian bridge (that goes over Santa Fe Rd).
Northbound trains will be on the "eastern most" tracks (farthest from Santa Fe and the pedestrian bridge)
They like parking the train 75+ feet from the ticket kiosks (an annoying little jog, from the ticket kiosk!)
For each person taking the train, buy a full-day "all regions" ticket (at the ticket kiosks)
Valid until 2:59 am (check ticket) - to ride ANYWHERE the trains/buses go
Take the D-Train (northbound, from Littleton-Mineral Station to I-25/Broadway Station)
Littleton-Mineral Station
HXJG+22 Littleton, Colorado
Only the D-Train services the Littleton-Mineral Station (you cannot get on the wrong train)
The Littleton-Mineral Station is the FIRST stop on the northbound D-Train
At the I-25/Broadway Station: Transfer from the D-Train to the E-Train
Get off of the D-Train
Stay at the same platform and wait for the E-Train to arrive
Trains on Track 1 are northbound (yes, you're heading north)
Take the E-Train (northbound, from I-25/Broadway Station to Union Station)
https://www.rtd-denver.com/app/route/E/schedule
The northbound E-Train will be coming from the left, as you face the tracks
I-25/Broadway Station
P225+JX Denver, Colorado
This is usually 5 stops, away from Union Station
At the Union Station building
The E-Train terminates at Union Station
Put the E-Train at your back and walk several blocks, to get to Union Station and the A-Train platform
The A-Train is usually on Track 1, which is closest to the Union Station building
Union Station
QX3X+8R Denver, Colorado
RTD Light Rail (platform for E-Train)
QX4W+3M Denver, Colorado
Along your walk, you'll go past a Whole Foods Market, on the left
QX3X+RF Denver, Colorado
This is the closest you'll be, walking-wise, for a grocery store
Other options for buying food/snacks:
There is a 7-Eleven, 1.0 miles from my house, to buy liter/water bottles
There are two grocery stores, 2 miles from my house
Keep walking until you are nearly at the Union Station building
If you have time to kill, be sure to check out what's inside Union Station and the downtown area.
Leave your bags with www.lugden.com (see more info, above), to enjoy your time more, without lugging your bags around!
Starting at the Union Station building
Go to Track 1, which is closest to the Union Station building
Take the A-Train (from Union Station to DIA)
Most trains on Track 1 are the A-Train (always check, before boarding the train)
The north/east bound A-train originates at Union Station, in downtown Denver
The north/east bound A-Train terminates at DIA
If there is time, board the train car that is farthest from the Union Station building
This saves time, when walking from the train at DIA, to get to security
At the DIA Main Terminal
Exit the train and go to the Main Terminal (where Westin Hotel is located)
Go up the looong escalator
Escalators is located outside the security gates, through the glass doors
At top of escalators
Go through the glass door, to the SOUTH side Security
The SOUTH side Security is for "all" travelers
The NORTH side Security is for Pre-Checked TSA travelers, only
