If you're new to Denver, and or Colorado, here are some local insights for ways to plan your trip from arrival to the CT trailhead.
Once you hit the trail, you're on your own, lol!
Get info from the CTF website: https://coloradotrail.org/
I manage this website for fun - enjoy!
This site has a menu!
Look for it - many jewels are to be discovered!
Looking for other hikers to join up with? Try posting your info, here:

Colorado Backcountry Search and Rescue organizations are volunteer-based and provide search and rescue services throughout Colorado, free of charge, to those stranded, lost or injured in the backcountry. Grant funds and reimbursements are available to Colorado counties and nonprofit backcountry search and rescue organizations to enable volunteers to continue to provide services.
If you are experiencing an emergency in the backcountry, call 911.

On this website, I gather up posted information from this FB Group and conversations with hikers I've hosted in my home
I do this for fun, so it's a constant work-in-progress
This site is by no means a "Definitive Source", lol!
This site is a good starting point with loads of additional resources to search.
I was booted off the "official" FB Group, for CTF's "Colorado Trail Thru-Hike YYYY" groups
Their "main" group can only be followed: https://www.facebook.com/ColoradoTrailFoundation
They claimed various reasons why I was booted off but it was because they consider my website here to be "advertising"
CTF STRICTLY prohibits all "advertising" even though it's for things CT hikers actually want and need(!)
Thanks to Rolf Asphaug, he created the new FB Group, which allows "advertising" - which includes information hikers need.
You can enjoy your time in downtown, by checking your pack with www.lugden.com
Get to my place, which is near the Littleton-Mineral station (close to Waterton Canyon), without a car.
https://sites.google.com/view/no-car-no-problem/light-rail <- How to get from DIA to Littleton-Mineral station
Go explore Colorado - with other options!
RTD Denver has parking lots near most train stations (all of them, probably).
My home is 0.65 miles (a 15-minute walk) from the RTD Littleton-Mineral Station
Look at RTD's site, to see if this option works for you:
There are several options for getting fuel - though demand is high, during camping season, so don't delay on securing some.
Typically, people fly by plane, into DIA (Denver International Airport)
When DEPARTING Denver: Reserve a spot in line, at DIA
People have also arrived by train or bus, which puts you at Union Station
Buses arrive in the underground bus stops/bays
Trains arrive on the train tracks, above ground
Driving by car is typically via I-70 or I-25
Finding parking is the issue and there are options (few)
Options for getting a ride to the CT Trailheads near Denver (there are two):
Take the Bustang Bus
There are several options for getting food and the closest option is Whole Foods, in downtown Denver (near the train stations)
There is a Whole Foods store, about a block from the Union Station
The Whole Foods grocery store is on the way, as you walk from Union Station to get to the RTD Denver E-train platform (located about 1.5 blocks past Whole Foods)
You can take the E-train and walk about a mile, to Target Grocery
For this route, you'll be heading AWAY from the trailhead
There are 2 grocery stores located 2 miles from my home (at the Broadway and Mineral Ave intersection)
King Soopers (south side of Mineral)
7901 S Broadway, Littleton, CO 80122
Safeway (north side of Mineral)
181 W Mineral Ave, Littleton, CO 80120
If you're looking for an affordable place to stay, as you travel from DIA to Waterton Canyon, stay with me!
This is subject to change but this is what I know, as of 2023-07-26
Whole Foods, at Union Station, sells the larger, "family sized" bottles (lacking the sports cap)
The 7-11/Conoco station sells 1 liter bottles, with the sports cap or regular cap
The store is located a short walk due west from the RTD Littleton-Mineral Station
The pictures of the bottles was taken inside the actual 7-11 store's fridge section (at the north wall)
There are many sites and apps. Here's what I know of:
https://www.mountain-forecast.com/
Dedicated mountain weather forecasts for more than 11300 (and growing) major summits for climbers and mountaineers, provided for up to 8 different elevations.
There was so much information, I moved it to its own page, here

So does Colorado! Some itinerary ideas, for your stay in Littleton, or elsewhere:
https://sites.google.com/view/itinerary-ideas
It's entirely possible to bike from my house to Waterton Canyon - by bike paths (no cars!)
There are plenty of places, nearby, to go eating, walking, running, biking, river-floating, and more!
Lots of local events to attend, year round!
There's more to the front range than racing to get fuel and to Waterton Canyon
There is a Starbucks, at the REI building, which overlooks the South Platte and Cherry Creek rivers at Confluence Park
Dip your toes in the rivers, at the Platte River Highlands Bridge & Swimming area
Watch kayakers and paddlers, okaying on the rivers
There is plenty more to enjoy, while you're in downtown Denver, near the REI store:
Check out the nearby Denver Trolley (seasonal)
Stroll through the nearby Centennial Gardens
Walk over and ride roller coasters, at Elitch Gardens (amusement park)
Ride the trolley (or walk) to the Downtown Aquarium
Back near Union Station
Take the Free Mall Ride (bus), up 16th Street Mall (may have construction)
Ride this bus, or walk, to 14th Street & Stout, to catch the D-Train
This is the Theater District-Convention Center station
Take the southbound D-Train, from here, and skip the transfer (from the E-train_ at the I-25/Broadway station
Ride the D-train, for about 30 minutes and all the way to the last stop, at the Littleton-Mineral station
Walk to and people watch at the Downtown Denver Skate Park
Eat at Union Station or go eat at one of the many venues, located in the Dairy Block
Don't forget, there are plenty of places all around/outside Union Station
Get a massage
Search Google Maps - there are many options for wellness spas, within a few block of Union Station!
Go to Estes Park (Rocky Mountain National Park)
Yup, you don't actually need a car, to go to Rocky Mountain National Park
NOTE: Check the park's website, for details on access to park and reserving shuttle tickets
There are many things to do, near my home, some of the reasons why I love living here.
