Proposed QuikTrip at 12th and I40
QuikTrip, a regional company based in Oklahoma, is proposing a gas station/truck stop with three “conditional uses”—heavy vehicle fueling station, liquor retail sales, and nicotine retail sales—at 1701 12th Street NW. This is the vacant piece of land on the west side of 12th Street, immediately south of I-40, and north of the railroad spur. The facility would include a convenience store and a "grab and go" restaurant.
On December 6, 2023, the City's Zoning Hearing Examiner (ZHE) denied the three conditional uses. The ZHE's decision can be found here:
The ZHE had held a public hearing on November 21, 2023. A video of the hearing can be found here:
QuikTrip has until 5 pm, Thursday, December 21 to appeal the ZHE decision.
NNVNA opposes these conditional uses (board vote Oct 11, 2023). Many others also oppose, including: the City's Metropolitan Redevelopment Agency, All Pueblo Council of Governors, Indian Pueblo Cultural Center, Indian Pueblos Marketing, Inc., North Valley Coalition, Sawmill Area NA, Sawmill Community Land Trust, Wells Park NA, Los Griegos NA, and Historic Old Town Association, and numerous individuals.
