4th Street Center for All Ages—Hear an update on Bernalillo County’s plans to turn the former tire shop at the northwest corner of 4th Street and Mildred Avenue NW into a community center for all ages. The County purchased the building last year and this past legislative session, secured $1.37M in funding for development. We will be collecting ideas at the meeting.
Albuquerque Community Safety—Hear from ACS about what this relatively new department does and how it coordinates with the Albuquerque Police Department, Albuquerque Fire Rescue, and other City departments. NOTE: November’s ballot will include a proposal to amend the City Charter so that the ACS director will be appointed by the Mayor with the advice and consent of the City Council and will be referred to as “ACS Chief,” in order, among other reasons, to create parity between ACS, APD, and AFR.
19 Pueblos District—Hear all about this government for the Pueblo properties along 12th Street and how the governance and taxation benefit New Mexico’s 19 Pueblos.
Indian Pueblo Cultural Center & Avanyu Plaza—Hear an update on activities and developments at IPCC and Avanyu Plaza.
Election of 2026-2027 Officers & Board—We will elect a President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer along with 10 other Board members to serve for the upcoming year. If you are interested in serving, please contact us at NearNorthValleyNA@gmail.com.
Amendments to Bylaws—We are planning a vote on three amendments:
1. Changing our official mailing address from POB 6953 to POB 6143—we have secured a smaller, less expensive US Post Office box, and it has a different POB number.
2. Changing the month of our Annual Meeting from April to May—for the past few years we’ve met in May rather than April because that works much better for our hosts, the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center.
3. Changing membership expiration—as we no longer collect dues on a yearly basis, it’s no longer necessary for memberships to expire on a yearly basis. The proposed amendment will allow memberships to continue as long as the members meet the eligibility requirements and want to be members. Here is the proposed change:
Section F. Membership Expiration.
Memberships shall expire on the last day of April each year when the person or legal entity no longer meets the eligibility requirements set forth in Sections A or E above or states that they no longer want to be a member in writing either by US Mail to NNVNA’s registered office, by email to NNVNA’s official email address, or in person to the NNVNA Secretary or other member designated by the NNVNA Board.
