NMHS Course Selection

STEP #1:
Use the appropriate grade level worksheet to help you determine which courses you are eligible to take next school year, and to view specific grade level course and credit requirements.
2023-24 Course Selection Worksheets to assist you in planning your courses for next year:
STEP #2:
Review the NMHS 2023-24 Program of Studies to determine which of the eligible classes you would like to request.

Starting on 2/15, using a computer rather than the app on your mobile device, students should log into the student PowerSchool portal by clicking here.
NOTE: If student or parent has any difficulty logging into/accessing the PowerSchool portal, please submit an NMHS Help Desk ticket here.
STEP #4:
On the left side of the screen, locate and select "Class Registration".
STEP #5:
Click on the Pencil Icon on the right of the screen (by the red exclamation point) in each subject group.
Review the course recommendations made by your teachers, and select the checkboxes for your desired class(es). (NOTE: English courses will not include a teacher recommendation)
Click "Okay" (bottom right) and continue making selections for each subject. When you are finished selecting your courses from all of the Course Groups, you should see green check marks (instead of red exclamation points) to the right of the pencil icons. This indicates that you have successfully completed each Course Group.
STEP #6:
To complete your registration, click the SUBMIT button on the lower right hand corner of the registration screen. Registration must be completed by 3/1.

Frequently asked questions:
Why do I need a PowerSchool portal/account?
Students require the PowerSchool account so you can view course recommendations made by your teachers. You will also select your courses using this portal, and submit your choices to your counselor.
What if I can't login in/access my PowerSchool portal/account?
If student or parent has any difficulty logging into/accessing the PowerSchool portal, please submit an NMHS Help Desk ticket here. If you have questions about specific courses, please see/email your counselor regarding specific courses/classes.
Where can my parents view my selections?
Your parents will be able to view the course recommendations and your selections in the parent PowerSchool account.
Where can I see all of the courses that are offered for me for next year?
The link to the the Program of Studies is available to view or download above in Step #2.
What if I disagree with my teacher recommendation?
It is important to consider the teachers’ course and level recommendations as teachers have valuable insight regarding your child, his/her performance this year, and what the next courses offer for students. If you still disagree, email your teacher to discuss the recommendation and cc your counselor. If you want to move forward with a course other than what was recommended, have your parent or guardian email your counselor.
What if I have concerns about the order in which I should be taking classes that have prerequisites?
Email your counselor to set up an appointment.
By what date do I need to complete course selection?
You must submit your course requests in your portal to your counselor by March 1st! Reach out to your counselor with questions.
