FAFSA

What is the FAFSA?

The FAFSA, or Free Application for Federal Student Aid helps colleges determine each student’s eligibility for financial aid in the form of grants, student loans, work study, and some scholarships. It’s a very important part of the college application process. Make sure you add all of the colleges where you are applying to your FAFSA. Not doing so will delay the receipt of your Financial Aid Package from that college/university.

Not a senior yet, but want to get an estimate for your financial aid eligibility for college or trade/technical school? Try the FAFSA4caster!

Beginning Oct. 1, college-bound NMHS seniors can apply for financial aid for the fall 2022 and spring 2023 semesters by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) using your 2021 tax information. We suggest that you watch the short video above to get a general overview of the process. Click on this link to file your FAFSA, or, use one of the resources listed below.

We also recommend senior students and parents view the 2021 NMHS College Financial Aid Night slideshow below given by Fairfield University's Diana Draper. A mother to both a college and high school student, Diana has been at Fairfield University for 21 years serving in several roles from Assistant Director, Associate Director, to Director of Financial Aid for the last nine years.
