Glitch Under the Skin is a live desktop performance that explores migration, memory, loss, and the experience of existing between multiple places and realities. Created and performed online, the work overlays Tehran and Vancouver through live and prerecorded video, digital maps, layered windows, screen capture, and visual interruptions. The performer’s body moves between these spaces, appearing, disappearing, and fragmenting across the screen as personal memories and geographical distances begin to occupy the same frame.
Rather than using technology simply as a tool for presenting the performance, Glitch Under the Skin treats the digital environment as part of its dramaturgy. Delays, interruptions, overlapping images, and glitches become a language for the immigrant experience: the instability of being here and elsewhere, present and remembering, physically located in one place while emotionally and politically connected to another. Moving between the private and public, body and screen, past and present, the work creates a fragmented digital landscape in which Vancouver and Tehran never fully separate or perfectly align.
