Touchscape is a mixed media documentary installation that challenges traditional viewer interaction with analog media, specifically Super 8 film. The installation invites intimate, physical engagement by using film rolls as dynamic canvases, creating a gallery experience where viewers actively move around and explore the work. At its core, Touchscape is a layered documentary film project that explores themes of self, identity, memory, and embodiment. The film is altered through painting, sewing, and scratching, intertwining sensory and corporeal themes, while framed, altered film strips disrupt conventional viewing perceptions. Inspired by Laura U. Marks' concept of haptic visuality, the installation urges viewers to engage with film not just visually, but also tactilely. By blending film projection and materiality, Touchscape fosters a multi-dimensional, immersive experience that invites reflection on the emotional and spatial connections between the audience and the artwork.
