Training and development is the continuous process of improving skills, gaining knowledge, clarifying concepts and changing attitude through structured and planned learning.
We’re currently working with:
Local authorities
Health Determinants Research Collaborations (HDRCs)
Local Authority Research Practitioners (LARPs)
We have set up a task and finish group and a co-creation group who represent stakeholders to prioritise and shape the bespoke training offer that the centre will provide.
Whether making tentative first steps or finely tuning your expertise, we aim to provide a range of training that will scaffold the development of your skills, while also providing some flexibility as to how and when you engage with this resource.
Our training webinar series continues into 2026, you can register for our upcoming webinars as well as catch up on our previous webinars.
These learning stories showcase practical examples of ways in which local authorities have approached their research journey and worked to become more research-active organisations.
We are continuing to have conversations and are keen to hear from as many local authorities as possible. Please get in touch to share your experiences and insights and to suggest areas we should look at by contacting our Public Health Research Training Manager, Nicola Sheen, nicola.sheen@newcastle.ac.uk or nihr.rss.publichealth@newcastle.ac.uk.
