With the weekly gathering of myself and a group of friends on Saturdays to play a money-less game of poker, I elected to build a proper, portable poker table to play on, complete with LED-lit cup holders, chip trays, a pop-out felt insert and USB/110v outlets.
The table started with breaking down plywood into a hexagon, framed with 2x4s
Legs purchased from IKEA are attached, 5 of the 6 face boards nailed and glued
Outlets containing USB ports are recessed in 3 of the 6 face boards and wired to a central power strip
6 lengths of pine are mitered and screwed together in groups of 3 to be aligned
The final top layer is attached to the base
The chip trays are marked, cut and shaped
The table is sanded and stained
The felt insert is cut and blue felt is stretched over it using spray adhesive and staples
The felt insert is test fitted into the table
Shellac finish is applied, scuffed, and buffed
Chip tray bottoms are cut and glued to felt
The table is assembled with felt insert, chip tray bottoms and led cup holders are wired and installed
Finishing touches are applied and the table becomes ready to play on (swipe between pictures)
