I created this set of coasters to replace one of first woodworking projects I had ever done a few year prior. The first coaster was not very well done, but I can say that I am quite proud of this new set.
I began this project with planning. (swipe between pictures)
I chose tongue and groove hickory floor boards to create the base, which were then ripped and processed into a square. (swipe between pictures)
The square was then cut at an angle; the gap being filled with a strip of wenge hardwood. (swipe between pictures)
The block was sanded and routed, followed by 4 holes that were drilled for the dowels to sit in. (swipe between pictures)
The base was assembled, coasters cut and finish applied to everything (swipe between pictures)
Above are pictures of the coaster set being used by my mother at her work
