Detroit Lions Peer Pride Program
Eligibility: All Detroit Lions Legends.
Description: Peer to Peer Outreach to Lions Legends for the purpose of reconnecting and providing peer support for issues that transitioning former players face with the support of the Detroit Lions and former players partnered Healthcare organization, Henry Ford Health System. Peer Pride Captains consist of former players that have been trained and follow the RPS (Reciprocal Peer Support) model with the variation that they are an outreach model and not a call in center; their goal is to reach out to Alumni for the benefit of both, the former players and the Detroit Lions organization.

Services: Former Player, Harry Sydney, and My Brother’s Keeper provide ‘Straight Talk’ and ‘Sound Direction’ to individuals who lack necessary life- coping skills. This is offered through 1 on 1 mentoring, group sessions, and/or public speaking. All persons welcome regardless of race, creed, color or ethnic background. Participants range from troubled boys identified by schools, courts and parents, to men struggling with relationships, job dissatisfaction, financial difficulty and defining and achieving realistic goals. Typically, clients of the program reside in the Wisconsin area/region.
