Fresh off the bunks of the Lancaster School's Military Academy in Grand Rapids, Junior Officers are the youth in the upper echelons of the New Model Army. Junior Officers are given basic duties that include commanding camps, handling menial logistics, and making sure the appearance of their Infantrymen are up to par. While the majority come straight out of officer school, a handful are Corporals who were given Battlefield Commissions. However, to keep an unbiased opinion of their Infantrymen, those promoted corporals are sent off to another unit.
Standing Officers are undoubtably the most flexible rank within the New Model Army. Standing Officers are a combination of the field experience from the enlisted ranks and the training of an officer, making them the go-to for their commanders. Standing Officers hold a rather strict hand on anything as they are directly responsible for their subordinates, along with running larger outposts and handling anything of high importance for the NMA. As such, they are the first rank authorized to handle Quartermastery items and issues.
The rank of Captain is a highly coveted position amongst those in the NMA Officer Corps. Captains are often picked from a group of Standing Officers who in the eyes of their command have gone above and beyond, and are rewarded as such. Naval Infantry Regiments such as the 25th see the deployment of multiple Captains due to the unit's size, while other units may only have one due to them being a smaller detachment from a larger unit. Nonetheless, captains often act as advisors to their subordinate officers, leaving heavy-handed orders to Standing Officers or lower.
The absolute highest authority a New Model Army unit may have while deployed. Majors (in a traditional sense) act as Commanding Officers where they oversee the entirety of their unit, with a single major managing an entire regiment. However, due to the unique circumstances of the 25th and their isolation on the Sunrise Isles, two Majors have been sent by Army Command to man this front. Theoretically, due to the promotion of the 25th's Major to Brevet General prior to their deployment, the official spot for Major of the 25th remains vacant.
A rank made shortly after the New Model Army set its sights on the Eastern Coalition, the rank of Brevet General holds an odd purpose. While Major is technically the highest one may go in the army, a hand selected group of Majors, chosen by General Devens herself, hold the rank of Brevet General. The reason for this has been left classified, with the most prominent rumor being that General Deven's is creating a council of her own. Nonetheless, Brevet Generals are far and few between, with them being granted total control over their assigned fronts.
Brevet General Elias Bradley serves as the commanding officer of the 25th Naval Infantry, and has been granted complete control of NMA assets in the Sunrise Isles Theater.
