"This place will become our foothold on these Islands-for all to see the prosperity of our new nation."
Brevet General Elias Bradley, 2166
Fort Huxley is the in-game location and headquarters for the New Model Army in After The Flash 8: Wintertide. Located on the Northwestern shores of the Sunrise Isles, Fort Huxley was built out of the scrapped remains of an abandoned settlement called Port Huxley. After over a year of construction, the Fort has been fully garrisoned by the NMA and has been opened to the public. Huxley features two primary 'sectors': the Civilian Sector and Military Sector. The Civilian Sector, as the name implies, is fully accessible to the public, and includes the Stag Stop Bar & Grill (which also serves as the Fort's canteen), the Civilian Housing Building, the General Store, and many other important government and civilian structures. The Military Sector includes barracks for all in-game NMA units (excluding the 1st Volunteers), the Huxley Command Center, Motorpool, Armory, and other vital pieces of military infrastructure. While not freely accessible to the public, visitors and Midwestern citizens can gain access by requesting an army escort while they are in the military sector.
Due to the isolated and frontier nature of Fort Huxley, law enforcement is placed within the hands of the Sunrise Isles Garrison. Sentries in Fort Huxley serve as judge, jury, and executioner for most issues in the Fort. Thanks to the state of martial law in place at Fort Huxley, there are no set laws, and rules are mostly common-sense based. Army members have full jurisdiction to arrest or remove civilians and non-Midwestern visitors from the Fort at any time. Removal from the Fort is the most common punishment, with outright banishment from the Fort being less common. In special circumstances, Federal Marshals may be flown in to bring Prisoners in front of Midwestern tribunals on the mainland. Fort Huxley does not require visitors to surrender their weapons upon entry, but all vehicles must be checked for explosives and contraband.
