SWORD FLEET BATTLE STATIONS
After its formation, the Midwestern Navy made a great effort to create a more comprehensive and a more modernized role structure compared to the naval forces of the city-states of the old Coalition. In this effort, they created two systems, Duty Stations and Battle Stations. These were made so Sailors have a dedicated role that they must adhere to, whilst also having a combat role when the alarm is called.
Battle Stations are technically a secondary role, only active in General Quarters, and are the combat role of a Sailor.
Swabbies are the most common combat role in the Midwestern Navy, and are considered the 'footsoldiers' of the Navy. They are given basic weaponry and are expected to defend the ship if it is attacked and may conduct boarding actions if ordered. The majority of the crew are considered Swabbies.
Ship Gunners are responsible for the operation and maintenance of a vessel's dedicated weapons, from autocannons to 4" guns. They are considered the main combat role of the Midwestern Navy due to their use of ship weaponry against hostile targets. This is the only role active in passive duties, and are restricted to handpicked individuals.
Lookouts are the eyes and ears of a ship, responsible for the observation of the seas surrounding the ship to inform the crew of anything they spot. They are usually only effective in high visibility and daylight conditions, however.
Damage Controlmen are technicians who are responsible for all repairs and firefighting during combat scenarios. They are expected to keep the ship afloat at all costs and to ensure the safety of the crew from hazardous situations in the unpredictabe environment of combat.
