PRIMARY ROLES IN THE 25TH NAVAL INFANTRY
With the New Model Army standardizing the militias of the Midwest into one coherent army, a standardized set of roles was made. These Primary Roles serve the purpose of specializing Infantryman in a certain style of fighting, allowing the unit as a whole to be able to take on any threat.
Being the backbone of almost every army in the Great Lakes, Troopers make up the bulk of the NMA forces anywhere. Troopers are often equipped with freshly made and refurbished rifles, notably bolt actions, Coalition surplus, and recently produced licensed firearms. Due to the New Model Army’s new approach to fighting, like the other roles within the army infantrymen must keep their kit light, carrying only essentials on patrols.
Forward scouts of the New Model Army, these infantrymen specialize in recon and pathfinding. Trailblazers often split into one of two paths, either being a forward scout or a message bearer, although most of the time they are expected to complete both of these tasks. Normally they are either equipped with a SMG or a shortened rifle to fit their preference and are kitted with reconnaissance gear such as maps and binoculars.
Every standard army has individuals gifted with pinpoint accuracy. The infantrymen gifted with this are often made into Sharpshooters. Utilized immensely in the Western War, they proved to be a menace on the field. They utilize long rifles attached with scopes to enhance their effectiveness in combat, though some use merely iron sights either out of personal preference or arrogance. Often, they will be seen alongside Trailblazers.

The surgical hands behind the New Model Army, Physicians are doctors who have been drafted into service no matter their economic standing. Being mostly from the civilian side of the Midwestern Union and often staying behind friendly lines, Physicians are only armed with handguns and their medical equipment. With most of the New Model Army trained in first aid with the ability to keep themselves alive in the field, Physicians focus on the most critically wounded and the recovery of injuries.
A newer role that made its debut in the Western Theatre with great success, Shocktroopers are almost always the spearhead of any fight the New Model Army may find themselves in. Armed with shotguns and carbines, Shocktroopers often minimize their kits to carry more breaching equipment such as wire cutters, axes, and even explosives if authorized. Although successful in their role, Shocktroopers have the highest casualty count due to the nature of their job.
Out of every batch of ten troopers, one is picked out to carry an automatic rifle. The purpose of the Automatic Rifleman is to complement the other roles of the New Model Army through mobile fire superiority. Automatic Riflemen are armed with heavy automatic rifles such as the Bren or a full-sized Weaver Rattler, with their kits being similar to that of a standard Trooper. The reason behind this is to put an end to the slow and heavy machine gunner, replacing it with a mobile platform that can accomplish the same outcome, but faster.
