Next Meeting BBQ from 3pm Saturday 9th August 2025 at Wolstenholme Fold Farm, Norden OL11 5UD All Welcome
The Fell Horses on the moors at the top of Rooley Moor Road have now started foaling on the moor, It can't be stressed enough the importance of KEEPING YOUR DOGS ON A LEAD. If the horses feel threatened they will do your dogs harm as they are protecting their young and the owners cannot, and will NOT be held responsible. Also please do not try to approach the mares and foals. If left alone they are absolutely fine and will not bother anyone. So please be respectful of their home.
In addition on Facebook there have been numerous horrific posts of the effect some dogs have been having on sheep grazing the moors. Not only is it horrific from an animal suffering point of view, but these sheep are the bread and butter for the many Commoners who use the Moor for Grazing. If a Sheep is killed it is money lost for them not to mention the loss of the next generation of sheep.
Ground Nesting Birds are busy in Spring creating their nests and raising their young. Loose Dogs disturb these birds which can have a devastating effect on the ecology of the Moors.
Please DO BE RESPECTFUL of the beautiful Countryside we are privileged to live in.
Please DO KEEP YOUR DOG ON A LEAD particularly at this sensitive breeding time of the year.
