Concessionary Bridlepaths

We are really fortunate that we have been able to negotiate an agreement with United Utilities to use two concessionary bridlepaths around Greenbooth and Ashworth Reservoirs. Thanks to Clare Heathcote from UU for volunteering to put our locks onto the gates.

The routes have been granted subject to conditions required by UU. In order that all members are aware of the conditions, and agree to abide by the rules, before access is granted, members must

a) Be a paid-up member for the current year (click here for membership application form)

b) read and agree to abide by the UU rules by signing onto the Concessionary Code of Conduct

c) pay a one off payment (as long as you remain a member) of £5 to cover the cost of locks either to our bank account or one of the committee members

d) purchase a NBHBA Hi-Viz vest and ensure it is worn whenever the concessionaries are ridden so our members can be identified.

d) send a copy of your 3rd Party Liability Insurance (this must be sent each year for access to continue)

e) you will then be sent via WhatsApp the combination number and a link to a WhatsApp Group which will be used to communicate any changes to the combination number throughout the year.

The two routes are given on the maps below. If you have any problems or concerns please contact one of our committee members or send an email to nbhbridleways@gmail.com

To ensure we allow access for UU and other bridleway groups the links for our locks have yellow cable ties on them. Please ensure you relock them on these yellow cable tie links (see photo below)

Ashworth Concessionary Route

There are 5 gates on this route with combination locks on each gate. Please ensure the gates are locked behind you and the combination moved a significant distance from the number.

On occasions the combination lock numbers at Cheesden Dip and Asworth Road may be different than the three gates in the centre of the ride. This will be made clear via the WhatsApp group.

Please do not disturb livestock and report any damage seen (irrespective of how it is caused) to nbhbridleways@gmail.com so UU can be informed.

Greenbooth Concessionary Route

There is 1 gate on this route with a combination lock on and 5 other gates. Please ensure the one gate is locked behind you and the combination moved a significant distance from the number. Please ensure the other gates are closed after passing through.

Pedestrians have right of way. Please do not disturb livestock and report any damage seen (irrespective of how it is caused) to nbhbridleways@gmail.com so UU can be informed.

We had a super bridleway ride round this route in June 2023 - Click here for some photos of the ride
