Reporting Incidents to BHS

The BHS use statistics from their incident reporting website to collate together to support all their lobbying activities in their efforts to improve the safety of all equestrians

They are interested in all horses, whether the horses are ridden, driving a carriage or cart, led in-hand or loose.

An incident is any unplanned event that has:

  • the potential to cause injury to a rider, handler or horse even though it may not have at this time (a near miss)

  • already caused injury to a rider, handler or horse (an accident)

It can involve?

  • Road/off-road user

  • Dogs

  • Slippery road surfaces

  • Low flying aircraft

  • Drones

  • Fireworks

Please take the time to report as only then can anything be done to try and prevent them from reoccurring.
