Definitive Map Modification Order for Northdene Drive

In 2018, whilst on the Committee of RBBA, Pat Tough submitted an application to have Footpath 13A upgraded to a Bridleway using the 20 year uninterrupted and unchallanged use by Horses. The application was submitted to Rochdale Metropolitan Borough Council who agreed that there was sufficient evidence to upgrade the path. An objection was put in by a local resident and so in line with the DMMO Application process RMBC submitted the order to the Planning Inspectorate for a final decision to be made. Finally the application was considered by the Planning Inspectorate and a final report was issued on the 10th June 2025 confirming that there was sufficient evidence for the DMMO to be approved (Click the link to read the report). The route will now become a bridleway. 

Why is it Important? 

This path is an important arterial route linking the bridlepaths around Marlett Avenue and the Golf Course with the Bridlepath down Meadowhead Lane. It will mean that horses can access the routes without having to go down the very busy Bury Road.
