Rochdale Harriers Running Event 2023

The Rochdale Harriers are holding a running event in Norden Village over the weekend of the 9th to 11th of June 2022.

It is really appreciated that we have been given forward notice of this event so we can inform horse riders, in particular, and others in the local community of the event. In the past we have had a horse incident where an injury to the rider occurred due to Riders being unaware of the Races. By publicising this event it provides the opportunity to avoid the areas during the race and by doing this prevent any potential injury to Horses, Horse Riders, Cyclists and Pedestrians as well as Participants in the Event.

There are three races occurring over the weekend

• Friday 9th June 7-30 pm 6 MILE NORDEN ROAD RACE The Route takes them up Edenfield Road, down Ashworth Road and back to Norden through Bamford. 

• Saturday 10th June 11-00 am 6 MILE NADEN VALLEY MULTI-TERRAIN This is a mixed terrain run which starts at 11.00 am and goes along Woodtop (Mile Canter). Runners will be going along this bridleway between 11.00 am and 12.00 noon.  They should have all gone through by 12.00.  it may be prudent to avoid going there between these times. Runners will be traversing the roads and lanes around Norden including the Bridlepath along Woodtop.

• Sunday 11th June . 11-00 am 6 MILE "KNOWL HILL" FELL RACE Starts at 11.00 am and goes up Knowl Hill.  This is the most popular run and they are expecting about 120 competitors.  Be aware.

They will be based at Norden Bowling Club for the duration of these events.

Please can all horse riders be courteous and try to avoid Woodtop on the Saturday from 10.30 until about 2.00 and Knowl Hill on the Sunday until about 2.00. Pedestrians and Cyclists should also take note of the event.
