Next Meeting - Top Spec Feed Talk 7.30pm 13th October 2025 at Rochdale Golf Club
Following on From a Request made at Norden Area Forum in Sept 2022 we submitted the following email regarding the proposed development at the Manor Edenfield Road
Email To RMBC Planning Department 29/9/22
We wish to comment on the above planning application. We have some concern about any affect it may have on the Bridleway in the immediate vicinity, namely RocE Rupp 51. Edenfield Road is an already busy road along which traffic travels at great speed. Any extra traffic, especially the heavy vehicles involved in the development, along Edenfield Road could cause dangers to horses whilst using these bridleways and linking to others further up on the moors, when they have to ride on Edenfield Road leading to and precisely at the point where access to the proposed development is. Edenfield Road is 30mph at the entrance to the site but unfortunately most vehicles speed along that section. With that in mind the view up and down that road, at the entrance needs to be as clear as possible and speed cameras would be helpful to try to ensure that traffic do not speed.
In addition, local horse riders who stable close to the development are concerned about the return of loud and intrusive fireworks at all times of the day and night. Horses have required veterinary attention caused solely by inappropriate letting off of fireworks at the venue under its previous owners. It would be better if they are only licenced to use silent fireworks. With this in mind any licensing of the proposed development needs to have conditions in place whereby the use of fireworks or other loud external noises, are kept to a minimum and advanced notice is given to the farms in the surrounding area so that adequate precautions can be put in place to minimise the distress and damage caused to livestock. To be of any use, these conditions also require the Council to closely monitor adherence with the conditions.
