Next Meeting - Top Spec Feed Talk 7.30pm 13th October 2025 at Rochdale Golf Club
In September 2025 we wrote the following email to Elsie Blundell MP regarding the upcoming Firework Bill due to be discussed in Parliament
"Dear Elsie,
We are letting you know that there is a petition being signed by many people at present asking for a reduction in the noise level of fireworks. As a Bridleway group and horse owners, we are very aware of the problems that happen many times each year, with the very noisy explosions that fireworks make. Some horses have lost their lives and some riders injured because the noise startles the horse and it often then bolts out if control and is involved in an accident. Around our area in the past few months a number of loud fireworks have been going off at all times of the day and night whilst local celebrations have been occurring. This trend to increase the use of fireworks outside the traditional 5th November and New Year's Eve time periods is very worrying for Dog, Cat and Horse owners as it now means our animals can become distressed at anytime of the year.
If the Firework petition is brought to Parliament, we hope we can rely on your support.
Kind Regards
Pat Tough
Chair of NBH Bridleways Association"
We had a response from her where she acknowledged our concerns and undertook to monitor developments as the bill goes through the House of Commons.
