Notice: Zoo Tycoon 2: Folksy Facelift is still available to download,
but is no longer under active development. Thanks for playing!
Folksy Facelift is a fan revamp of Zoo Tycoon 2 that aims to make the game a more realistic and zoologicaly-informed experience, albeit within the confines of the vanilla art style. Below is a list of some of its main features.
If you've ever thought to yourself, 'wow, some of the animals in this game are way too big', you're not alone; Folksy Facelift re-scales the majority of the animals in the game to be more like their real life counterparts, and not everything has necessarily been shrunk...!
Watch out! Many animals have some positively savage tricks up their furry, feathery and scaly sleeves that reflect their real, wild selves. Some ugly consequences can be avoided with enough care, but the end of the day, animals are gonna be animals.
Using sources such as the IUCN Red List and the Animal Diversity Web as references, every single animal has been given a shake-up in terms of how they stomach all of the different biomes. Many of them can live in more than one biome - what sorts of crazy critter combos will you come up with?
Several animals, namely big cats, have been given some fun new variants, generally (but not always) based off of real life. But it's not just animals that have been given an extra splash of variety: many trees come in more than one leaf and zoo guests are not nearly as same-y as they used to be!
Please be aware that Folksy Facelift is not compatible with other large-scale overhaul mods, like Radical Remake and NZ2Z's own Vanilla-Friendly Fixes. It will also clash with any downloads that do anything to change the GUI or animals' sizes, biome preferences and/or space needs.
