Synopsis:

An interactive presentation-based story telling session in Hindi and English, based on 9 Gems of Indian art, displayed in NGMA Delhi. The focus of the story telling session is to inspire and reconnect them with the genius and versatility of these artists.

The session will include a slide presentation to introduction of the 9 Gems of Indian Art and the importance of their collection in NGMA.

The three artists chosen for the sessions are Rabindranath Tagore, Gaganendranath Tagore and Abanindranath Tagore. The choice of artists is not based on any biasness or cultural affinity. It is their sheer innovative and versatile nature of their artistic pursuit which stands inspiring and tantamount. All three of them contributed majorly to Indian visual art history and also produced amazing body of literature that is connected to their core idea of art and aesthetics.

The stories that will present in a dramatic and engaging format are translated versions of the famous original pieces written and illustrated by the artists.

About Story-teller

Ms. SREEMOYEE DASGUPTA

(Theatre Activist & Mentor, Multidisciplinary Artist)

Story writing and story telling facilitator

Born in 1985, she is a graduate in English Literature and a post Graduate in Mass Communication. She worked as the Associate Editor at Sterling Publications handling clients like Mattel, Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon, Warner Bros., DC Comics, Hasbro and many more, and has been commissioned editorship for several publications, like Sahitya Akademi, Niyogi Books and CURE. She was also a disciple at the Uday Shankar Creative Dance Academy. She joined Sansaptak (A group for Theatre) in 2003, and is currently working as the assistant administrator, actor, properties, costume, light, music and graphic designer and executor, actor, and also mentors theatre students. She has also directed and written a few plays under Guru, Torit Mitra’s tutelage. She loves storytelling and has professionally conducted story telling sessions for Sansaptak, Kailash Sathyarthi Foundation, CURE (USAID), Starling Publication, Sahitya Kala Akademi, Craft Museum and Hastkala Akademi and NGMA and many reputed Schools. She is presently working on her own book on Paranormal Stories. She also conducts story writing and storytelling workshops to improve creative thinking and writing skills. She is skill full in English, Hindi and Bengali Languages and loves to adopt different languages in her expressions to imbibe multiculturalism.

The session will showcase one of the Master Artist from the precious collection of National Gallery of Modern Art. Master Artist of this week - Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore. This Session will portray his life story and major contributions in the Indian visual art history and all the amazing literature he has produced. His famous ghost stories will be told and an interactive session will be held. The stories will be presented in a dramatic and engaging format.
