Teaching individual violin and viola students from Years 7 to VCE, Tim is very pleased to be part of the dynamic music program at MWSC. As Head of Strings he conducts the College’s String Orchestra, Senior Strings and Junior Strings, and teaches violin classes in the Year 7 Band Program. He loves teaching the skills of solo and ensemble playing and values the challenge of taking students from the beginning stages to more advanced playing.
After completing the Bachelor of Music degree with First Class Honours in Performance at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music, Tim joined Orchestra Victoria as a first violinist, performing for Opera Australia and the Australian Ballet. Several years later he commenced music teaching and became Music Coordinator at Macleod High School where he taught classroom music from Years 7 to 12 and conducted the symphony orchestra. Mid-career he decided to experience the business side of music and built a busy entertainment booking agency which held contracts to present musicians at major hotels including the Grand Hyatt, Sofitel and Windsor. Returning to music education, Tim taught instrumental and classroom music at Brighton Grammar, Marcellin College, Ivanhoe Girls’ Grammar and Penleigh and Essendon Grammar.
